I found watching Artur Jr's exhibition a time warp experience-either he grew up pretty fast or time is just flying by. Probably a bit of both. He's so tall and his skills have indeed developed considerably since the last time I saw him skate (or paid attention to it). Good for him.

I must say that he is immediately recognizable as a Mishin-Plushish product and now I see what the hallmark is - straightened arm flung behind the body line together with hand/fingers splayed out - and seeing it repeatedly in a performance takes the focus off so much of the stuff that is really hard to do and done well. Just my opinion.

That sounds like a fun show. If anyone knows about some of those recipients who aren't as famous outside of Russia and would like to give some background, I'm sure people would be interested to read it.

B&L performed beautifully. If they could get those sbs jumps in unison, I think they'd be top 6.

Agreed. They seemed more expressive to me. And they had some gorgeous moves - the one where he's spinning and she's around him and the one where she's laying on his back in particular

I'm surprised that Ksenia Makarova did not receive a breakthrough award.
To move from Junior to Senior and deliver at the Worlds and Olympics in that Ladies field...was an stellar accomplishment in my books.

Bazarova / Larionov deserve the award, they came back strong after 18 months away from competition, placing 5th at Europeans and 8th at their first Worlds. Their skating is becoming more and more beautiful, they are certainly a bright hope in Russian pair skating and have the potential to be serious contenders by the next Olympics.

And maybe since they don't train in the US like Makarova, they could be present for the award?
