So he says on Ellen. Believe him or no?
Yes he seems sincere.
No way, it'll last a week if that.
So he says on Ellen. Believe him or no?
Maybe he'll be better for a little while, but I don't think it will last.
I think it will last, only because he went on a huge talk show AND posted a video on youtube that has already been passed around. He can never take back what he said. If he goes back to bullying then he is the ultimate hypocrite as well as a liar. I can't stand the guy but for once he is doing the right thing.

I think he's only doing it because he realizes he's losing his audience.
In my spare time, I like to interview figure skating legends.
He just apologized via Twitter to Demi Moore, saying he had too many to tell it to, but wanted to start with her.
Yeah, I'll believe it when it's not "fashionable" and he can't get himself in the news with it.
If he stops bullying, he won't have a career. His site doesn't have gossip (at least not gossip that other sites don't have) - it's "look at how witty I am saying smartass things about celebs".
I would have been here sooner, but the bus kept stopping for other people to get on it. - Sheldon Cooper, The Big Bang Theory
I think he really is losing his readership. I'm evidence of it. I use to read him pretty regularly from like 06-09, but I made a New Years resolution to stop reading so much celeb gossip, in particular his nasty blog, and I haven't been on there since. He really is a jerk.
I really stopped reading him because of all the unwanted outings, and the way he handled Britney Spears' psychiatric problems and his initial posting about MJ faking his heart attack. It really disgusted me.
I've stopped reading it regularly--but mostly because he doesn't post the underground gossip that her used to, when he was less popular.
It's a Hail Mary move IMO.
Did he actually admit that what he has been doing was internet bulling? It's baffles me why stars like Gaga and Madonna hang out with him.
I wanted to clarify one thing. I voted YES but I do NOT think he is sincere. I think he will back off to some degree, maybe completely, for a good long while (maybe forever depending how long his site lasts) but I don't think he is doing it for sincere reasons. I think he sees a chance to make some news and is taking advantage of the rash of gay teen suicides. Sounds sick but this is Perez Hilton we are talking about.

Unfortunately, I was home sick yesterday and saw his interview with Ellen. I have to take him at his word...and hope.
I KNOW Ellen will keep his feet to the fire.
I saw his interview with Ellen and Ellen didn't really seem to believe him but was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
I just don't know what worth Perez's website will have now.
Him being a bully and trash talking every one was his thing, what is it now?
For once I'm not going to take the cynical route. I think he's sincere. One of the things I was wondering before I watched the video was "How old was he when he started that thing?" He answered the question in the interview and said he was 26 when he started, and now he's 33 and he's a different person. I believe that.
Popular culture was never high culture, it's not supposed to be, but the level it has sunk to in the past twenty years is just astounding. There is absolutely NOTHING that is shocking anymore and everybody's out for making a buck off of their "brand" and really, the talent pool these days isn't all that deep. I was watching a news show last night on the porn industry which is losing money because our culture is so saturated with sex that it's lost its mystique. People aren't so willing to pay for it anymore when they can get it very easily for free. One of the porn starlets was talking about "growing her brand" and I said my god, we're now a society where people aren't people anymore. We're nothing but walking credit scores and brands. It's dehumanizing.
So this guy grew up on negative popular culture that just got worse and worse over time as the Internet took over the world and built the fourth-dimension where nothing is real. Now at the ripe old age of 33 he's starting to get some perspective and some maturity and humanity and has decided to take a higher road, even if it means he's going to lose money on the deal by trying to become a better person. Well, good for him. I hope it lasts, and I hope that others follow his lead.
And if I'm wrong and he's goes back to acting like a jackass, well, it wouldn't be the first time I got burned on giving someone the benefit of the doubt they didn't deserve. But I'll give it to him, anyway, despite the risk.

Exactly. Doesn't this move completely undermine the entire purpose of Perez Hilton?
Isn't he a pop culture phenomenon simply because he's a bully?
I thought that was his appeal: he went where no other celeb gossiper would go. He made fun of their children, ridiculed their looks, outed closeted celebrities, and most importantly, he refused to apologize or kiss the asses of most of them.
No other mainstream gossiper dared to cross the lines he did and, love him or hate him, people couldn't get enough of it.
If you wanted the real celeb dirt you went to Perez.
This is the only "value" he brings. If he's truly sincere, he's even more delusional than I thought if he actually thinks people will give a damn about what he has to say if he isn't drawing penises on people's faces.
I give him a year tops before he fades away or reverts back to his bullying. The dude is a parasite. In the public eye, I doubt if he knows how to be anything else.
Maybe he thinks he can be witty and snarky without being mean and will be able to attract readers with his wit without turning off sensitive readers or the objects of said wit.
Of course that's more difficult than kneejerk insults, so he may find that he doesn't have it in him after all and his site will become too boring to attract readers.
