(In)justice in America
I find myself unable to comprehend that something like this could actually happen as recently as 1993. Two sisters (aged 19 and 21) were each sentenced to two consecutive life sentences for conviction of taking part in a robbery -- involving a gun in which $11 was taken. The actual thieves (and person with the gun) received sentences of 8 years and were released after two years. Does anyone have any light to shed on how such a thing could be allowed to happen? When violent offenders get out of prison after serving as little as 5 years, I find this completely shocking and incomprehensible.
