Whether she was your favorite or not; certainly one of the greatest voices.
So many of her associates are a part of the "heavenly choir". now.

I didn't realize that she was in her 80's! R.I.P. "La Stupenda" -- your voice is/was unforgettable.
Very sad to hear this news.
Very sad to hear this.I just watched the news and it wasn't mentioned at all. She was never my favourite actress within the opera world, but the incredible virtuosity of her technique should never be forgotten.
R.I.P.
Inspiring Mirai Nagasu!

RIP La Stupenda.![]()
To think that fun is simple fun, while earnest things are earnest, proves all too plain that neither one thou truthfully discernest.
Sad to hear this news. She was an incredible talent.
RIP
There is another thread for "La Stupenda" in addition to this one.
I admired her brilliant artistry and her humor, although Leontyne Price's voice has been my favorite for many years.
She and Sir Richard Bonynge were so very fortunate to be such a close-knit team professionally and personally through the majority of their careers.

Deeply saddened to hear this. One of the greatest artists of all time.
Another great voice silenced. RIP, Dame Joan.
