    Skater talks about depression
    http://www.omaha.com/article/2010101...01/710159910/0
Hamill's hair is still short, hugs her face and has the wedge in the bangs. She married again a year ago and has three step-children and two dogs. She teaches adults how to skate and is involved in a program that gives some children with spinal cord injuries an opportunity to skate.
Even with depression, it sounds as if she's coping with it well, and in a good space.

Did any posters attend this event?
"I miss footwork that has any kind of a discernible pattern. The goal of a step sequence should not be for a skater to show the same ice coverage as a Zamboni and take about as much time as an ice resurface. " ~ Zemgirl, reflecting on a pre-IJS straight line sequence

ETA 2 tweets about the show by Lynn Rutherford:
Great ITNY. DHamill's layback & scratch spins fine as ever. JWeir looked fit & gave strong perf to "Heartbroken" incl 2 tripletoes.

SHughes gave first perf in yrs & looked great. The ensemble shined. Congrats to Moira North for 25 yrs of ITNY!

I was working at the event and missed most of the performances but I did see someone filming on the ice so hopefully there will be some DVD release in the future.

While I have never been a fan of Peter Carruther's TV commentary, I was very impressed with his role as MC of the awards presentation at the dinner following the show - he did an amazing job!

And here's Dorothy. She is as graceful as ever. (PML that it looks like she has her boots custom made in the old-school style that came up so high on the leg. But it clearly works for her.)

    That's not Dick Button.
In my spare time, I like to interview figure skating legends.

I think that's Doug Wilson, the veteran director of ABC's figure skating TV broadcasts, now retired.

My husband (of a little over a month) worked the event. He had never seen any "real" skating before and thought it was great. When he got the gig, he asked me who Sara Hughes, Johnny Weir, and Dick Button were and what Ice Theatre was. I clearly need to help up his skating IQ.

I couldn't attend though because I was on work travel. This clearly did not amuse me.

I think it's interesting that, out of all the photos, he and Dorothy--two fiftysomethings--looked the best IMO.
