Definitely Matt Savoie's 2006 Mission LP. I'd watched the guy for years but for some reason he never made an impact until that program--which fit him like a glove. So incredibly difficult and intricate, and just the right amount of expression (no scenery chewing). Also love his SP (Adagio) from that season and the previous.

Kwan's Red Violin LP from 2001 (?) Worlds.

Delobel/Schoenfelder's The Untouchables FD (2007?). Got me to actually LIKE ice dance, which features a lot of schmaltz, scenery chewing, and over-the-top "romance," in addition to some horrendous costumes--and D/S were totally different.

Buttle's Nagoyqatsi from 2005 Canadian Nationals. Also his earlier incarnations of Ararat--although he performed it perfectly for 2008 Worlds to win the gold, I found it had lost a lot of its intricacy and choreographic interest (although clearly taking out some of the choreography worked!).

Pretty much anything Gary Beacom from his pro career.

Thanks so much for the great videos!

Chen Lu's amazing interpretation might just be my favourite program of all time.

    But my other favourites include:

Ando SP Worlds 2009 (I love how she stays in the character and is so delicate on this one) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Skcmyv6Sveo

Chen Lu Pro 1998 (perfect interpretation) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lzsrr7VoLo

Jenni Vähämaa Finlandia Trophy 2007 FS (may not be among the best performances of the skating world but the sheer JOY is amazing, not to forget the amazing content. Too bad she retired) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6PK2rqvGO4

Edit: Of course in the beginning I meant interpretation of RACHMANINOV. Didn't make much sense this way, did it?

Carolina Kostner Worlds 2005 SP (just so light on ice) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mHrW...eature=related

The Kerrs Euros 2009 FD (cried my eyes off while watching, EMOTION) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mEr03qQwo8

Butyrskaya Worlds 2000 SP (just so elegant and smooth) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVt3I4IL18s

Damn CTV for blocking this in the U.S.

Big ditto to all those who said B&S's Lady Caliph SP and S&Z's Turandot LP.

These programs have the most mileage on my computer:

DelSchoe's The Piano FD from GPF and The Great Gig in the Sky FD from TEB.

Suguri's Ave Maria SP from Worlds 2002 and Carmen LP from 4CC 2005.

Lambiel's Four Seasons LP from Worlds 2006.

Jahnke's Brazilian LP from 2004 Nationals.

Kwan's The Red Violin LP from Worlds, 2003 Aranjuez LP from Nationals, Fields of Gold Ex from 2003 Worlds.

ETA: Buttle's Ararat from 2008 Worlds. This was one time when I didn't mind lessened choreography, because, damn, what a performance!

I went back and re-read their story and about his tragic death.
Tears from the very first note....Mahler's beautiful Adagietto was the perfect music for this stunningly performed tribute....
    Thank you, Kelleys6th.

OMG I love this one too!! I think the Piano is my favourite FD of them and this early version of it was the most beautiful, much better than the one at Worlds IMO.

    And more:
Drobiazko/Vanagas 2006 Worlds FD - should have won them the bronze at least

Michelle Kwan 2000 Worlds ex "Hands" - no link from Worlds, but here's a version from Nationals

Sinead & John Kerr 2008 Worlds OD

Brian Joubert 2007 Skate Canada ex - not for the program, but for the pure happiness on his face - now that kind of enjoying himself while skating is what he currently needs

Alexei Yagudin 2002 Winter - links posted before

Volosozhar/Morozov (that's right, can't believe it either ) Pearl Harbor FP - from any event, I just love the music and love how their pair elements highlight it (twist, throws, everything perfectly matched with music). And plus, I could watch Tatiana skate for hours and it never gets old, she's that amazing

Kristoffer Berntsson 2008 & 2009 SP - one of the best choreographies in a man's program lately IMO

you see, they don't necessarily have to be Olympic gold winning programs, as long as they have "it"

I guess that's it for now. Surely there are more programs I'm addicted to, so perhaps I'll come back to this thread some time later

I agree! I think they made the Worlds version more uplifting and showy to appeal to the crowd and judges, but I loved the more melancholy, subtle version from the Grand Prix.

Very few numbers are "ground-braking" but Diasuke Takahashi's Swan Lake is one of them.
Thanks for reminding me of that masterpiece!

Another Ground braker is "Bolero" from T&D

Not my real name at all!

    Johnny Weir's 'Imagine'

    Evocative music.

    Excellent skating.

    Costume just right.

Why does it make me cry so much every time I watch it?

Pass me the tissues. I'm going to You Tube for another weepfest.

We will never ever see Johnny perform this again. So very sad. Thank you so much Johnny for such a sublime effort. After so many years of watching figure skating, this is the one and only time that I was moved so deeply. Best wishes for your future.

Haven't watched all these via the links, but Gordeeva and Grinkov's 1994 gala number was breathtaking. They were so special together.

    I never grow tired of watching . . .

Anissina & Peizerat 2002 Olympics OD The only problem is that it is so good that it spoils almost every other ice dance routine for me.

Midori Ito 1998 Olympics SP Uncle Dick and Aunt Peggy reduced to shameless fanboy and fangirl. I love Peggy's at 2:12.

Matthew Savoie 2005 Nationals SP Edges, jumps, positions, interpretation, and snazzy transitions.

Samuel Contesti 2009 Europeans LP Entertaining as all getout, and he does six jumps, including a triple-triple, in the last twenty seconds!

Javier Fernández 2010 Worlds LP Another highly entertaining program, especially the circular step sequence.

Mirai Nagasu 2009 Nationals LP Skates onto the ice , skates off .

The one from Worlds is her only "Hands" I can't watch. It was the worst for me : the dress, the fall, the light...I didn't like it !
The one from Japan Open or Nationals was beautiful !

I might love the Worlds version so much, because it was during the first Worlds I've ever followed and it brings back wonderful memories of the (for me) unforgettable Nice gala, with so many of my first skating loves also, it was when I saw the program for the first time. But even though, I absolutely love her dress (so sweet!) and the lights and I really couldn't care less for the fall. Actually the moment I saw her Worlds Hands, I fell for Michelle completely

how could I forget this!! Philippe Candeloro - d'Artagnan Olympics 1998

    thanks Aliceanne*

on my tape, I love how the Swedish commentators are gushing over him, and in the end, they say it's the best program he's ever had and that he must be really tired, the clock stops at 14 minutes 17 seconds.

    then, silence....

and they start laughing, and Katharina Hultling says: I must be tired too, of course he's been skating for 4 minutes 17 seconds...
Lotta Falckenbäck: if 14.17, he would have been a total wreck**

and then Philippe gets the lovely hat in the K&C...
