I guess their sturdiness will be judged by whether or not that have teeny little skater babies attached to their costumes around the time of Euros.

I agree. However I am kind of drawn to the bows on the knees.

Crazy condom girl's costume is worse IMO, but Leonova's SP costume is pretty awful. And the LP costume, while not as garish, makes her look chunky.

Can we remind to some skaters that less is better ?

Actually in all these costums there are very good and creative ideas, but designers maybe should have gone the sober way rather than the more more always more way.

Otherwise, I like K&S costums, it's actually a nice exemple of how something a little too much can still look ok and create a "look" and a kind of dramatic style. To me the problem is more about Kawaguchi's figure, she would need to gain a few pounds so that her dresses fit her better. Not too much, just a little meat around her legs. lol

Weren't you the one bleating on about how physical appearance shouldn't be important in figure skating? Make up your mind innit.
To think that fun is simple fun, while earnest things are earnest, proves all too plain that neither one thou truthfully discernest.

Here are some pics of Russian Ladies costumes from the test skate:

    Leonova SP costume
    Leonova FS cosume

    Also
Biryukova SP costume (is that a see-through cutout on the side?)
    Biryukova FS costume
    Tuktamysheva SP costume (very bright!)
Thanks, all of those are absolutely hideous.

Leonova's surely are the worst. Especially the SP one. The cut, the colour, the tassels. Everything that possibly could be wrong is.

    I don't think they're all that bad
I also think they look like vomit.

Second place behind Leonova SP for me, so far.

And here I was naively thinking that female pair skaters are supposed to be as light as possible and that physical fitness is more important than looking good in a dress.

A few pounds around Kawaguchi's body would'nt make her fat ! And for Smirnov to lift her it won't make that much a difference since he is very strong. It's just that she will look more feminin IMO and the dresses would look even better on her.

The physical appearance is not supposed to make an impact on the judgement, and with or without a few pounds, Kawaguchi's skating is what it is, and she gets rewarded for that, fortunately.
From the public view it is not contradictory to think that she could add some meat around her hips to look even better.

I'm leaning towards a voidy WTF.

Of course it's super voidy. What's wrong with you people? It's going to be one of the voidiest programs of the season for sure.

FD tries to be voidy but falls Flatt.

Mysliveckova/Novak have a very voidy FD too, apparently, but it's not on FSVids.

Yikes! I would feel silly wearing that, I wonder if they lost a bet?

K/S are wearing costumes from a few years ago, they must have been dyed or painted or something. The new costumes aren't ready. I like these colors better than the fleshtone they used to have, although I do agree with Kavaguti gaining weight.

It's worth remembering they got great tech scores for it. BTW, note the very low position Nelli gets in the shoot the duck (step 21) of the GW.

The old description of the GW said "almost parallel to the ice"

The new grading requirements for the tech controllers/callers say

"thigh of the skating leg at least parallel to the ice and the free leg straight and extended forward parallel to the ice"

Looking at last year's Worlds CD's (as much as you can tell, given the dreadful camera work), none of the teams thought you needed parallel; almost parallel was good enough.
