Yes, I know it's sad! First I only heard it from a friend. Then I asked him myself and he confirmed.

Oh, that's a big can of worms.... there were lots of rumors and veiled accusations. And some not so hidden.

It's hard to know what's true and what's not.

Apparently she's been unhappy in the partnership for a while now, but some think that the French Federation was playing "king maker" and split them up in order to make a better pair.

Someone saying they are Vanessa actually posted about it here on FSU at one point. Maybe someone has a link to that post and you can read it for yourself.

And then weren't people saying that the new pair of Vanessa James/ Maximin Coia didn't actually work out? So confusing.

    Here it is.

Splitting J/B and C/C did yield a new pair - just not the one the FFSG was hoping for...

It is confirmed that Maximin Coia sent a letter to French Fed to say that he wanted to do shows for the next 2 years. So, he doesn't skate with Vanessa anymore. If she doesn't find a new partner soon, he will probably try again with her.

Call me crazy, but didn't I read that Todd Gilles retired? I can't find any proof of that now. I also thought Gilles/Donohue split (which pretty much convinced me that Alexe is the only Gilles still competing, but I may be TOTALLY wrong on all accounts).

WAIT...a trip to IceNetwork indicates that both Piper and Todd ended their partnerships, but not that Todd retired, as I thought. So not sure that there are any retirements in the bunch, but maybe someone can back me up on Todd retiring?

I believe Todd was considering looking for a partner and perhaps is still considering that. So no official retirement.

What the heck? Hopefully it wasn't the French Fed's idea to do this splitting and rematching because it doesn't seem to be going right.
