Fantastic news. Haven't all his students had pristine (for the most part) technique? If Mao's skating could become any more like his daughter's, it could only be a good thing.

Excellent choice, and probably the only sensible choice really unless she wants to go back to Machida.

    Who's Machida?
To think that fun is simple fun, while earnest things are earnest, proves all too plain that neither one thou truthfully discernest.

That was Machiko Yamada, also Mao's former and Kanako's current coach...

Machida (Tatsuki) is a Japanese male skater.

Great choice for Mao - I'm happy she finally found a coach. I hope they'll enjoy working together!

Not "who" but "what" or better "where". Machida is a city near Tokyo and a train station on Odakyu line. I am sure they don't coach.

    So happy for Asada!
Sato is an excellent choice for her. One of the best basic coaches in the business, if not the best
It also ends speculation whether she'd take Orser as her coach, stealing it from Saint YuNa...

    Congraturations, Mao Asada!
Happiest news ever this off season!
    I'm almost in tears.
And great job to the people who were in charge of negotiation!

    Yes, paskatefan.
Mao & Taka training together and pushing each other!
Mao doesn't have to leave her rink!
Mao can stay in Nagoya and can live with her family!
She can go to her college.

    Everything seems fantastic!

Mr. Sato rules. Now, she'll get the pat on the back before she skates. And, maybe she'll get some programs choreographed by Yuka.

I hope she will develop artistry with her new coach.
That's what she need to win Sochi.

I think that she is quite artistic already - I have more hopes that Sato will calm her down to some extend. She is not really a headcase, but she seems to have put lots of pressure on herself and her performances can be quite erratic.
