I echoe the thoughts of most in this thread in that I very much doubt he will compete again. Why would he, he has already achieved all you can in the amateur World, and he is headlining Stars on Ice.

Anyway eventually there will be some men who are regularly landing quads and combining it with a complete program and he would never return in his late 20s to try and go up against that when he has already ended his amateur career on a high note.

Some place competitive and athletic, but ultimately more like an audition than anything else.

He needs to take the cash and run to college because I don't see much of a role for him in skating if he is not competing except as a technical specialist or judge.

College at UCLA (or in the ghetto at USC) as well as on the D-List could be a pretty sweet deal.

Scott Hamilton loves him and he is the only American OGM of the last 18 years excluding Hughes and Lipinski who obviously were done with skating awhile back. I think he will continue to be the star of SOI for atleast the next quad, unless the tour goes bankrupt.

I meant in eligible skating (ie coaching, choreography). Of course, he will tour at least until 2014, where he can wow the crowd with Olympic style 3T and 2A to their hearts delight.

I will very much miss seeing Lysacek in competitions!

On the other hand I think that with the Olympics as his last ISU competition is for a skater the greatest time to end one´s eligible career as the reigning Olympic, World and GPF champion....

well, if anyone needs routine and structure, they can go to schol or get a job... skating is definitely not the only way to bring these things into one's life

Yep - and that was as high a note as he could get out of himself. He's still just not artistic (or whatever you want to call it) but he works like hell and follows direction well. It would be very hard to accomplish anything anywhere near what he did twice and he seems, by his own statements, mostly in it for the athletics. With the ever changing sport. It seems unlikely.

If you check out the attached link, it suggests a possibility for Evan's next avocation.

Lol How very fetching he looks in his little....what is that thing on his head anyway?

I won't miss him either but I agree with the people who doubt he'll come back. Taking two years off, with his booboos, and all the young guys doing quads and quad combos will make it awfully hard for him to be a front runner again and just being one of the pack would make him crazy. jmo

Certainly not surprising news that Evan is taking time off. Don't expect to see him back. Glad to see it. Wish him the best. Good-bye.

I don't know, I would like at least one more season to see if Even improved any in his expressiveness with a season on DWTS. It would be kind of cool if all of his dancing positively influenced his skating.

I guess you're right and I hate "indefinite break". I hated when Plushy did that too.
I was really surprised when he actually came back, though. I didn't believe his constant promises to come back.

It's takeoff of Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring.

Me neither! Me neither! Me neither!

Whatever Evan decides to do, I thank him for giving me the pleasure of watching him win the OGM and wish him the best.
