If you have ever seen the movie "The Longest Day" then you would surely remember the scenes with a piper playing on the beach while bullets flew past. Apparently it is indeed true. His unit commander was a Scottish aristocrat who asked him to play and he said "ok". And he did indeed play on that bridge as well. Some German soldiers after the war admitted that they did not shoot at him because they thought he was crazy. LOL One of many brave young men to whom we all owe a huge debt we can never repay. Bill Millin was 88 and survived by a son. May he rest in peace.
