In February, after a lengthy investigation, the federation revoked Dong’s results from those Games, as well as from several other major competitions. It also asked the I.O.C. to strip the Chinese team of its medal. All of Dong’s results from the Sydney Games, including a sixth-place finish in the floor exercise and a seventh-place finish on the vault, were wiped from the record books.

yes, this is nice..and the rules are set in place for gymnast safety.. I don't think they should of strip those girls of titles and metals.. those girls had no choice.. can't they just do what they did in winter Olympics 2002figure skating and just have two 3rd places ? Punishment shouldn't be on the girls..

How can you give a Bronze medal to a team that now has a lower point total than the US team? If they erase one gymnast's marks, it makes the point total decrease, and it's the totals that decide the results. I don't have the totals on hand at the moment (and any that you can find online probably have all been adjusted already, and I'm not going to go through my video of that competition right now to find them), but the US team wasn't all that far behind the Chinese, IIRC.
