And Doug is a "real" pair coach with much personal experience at the World level as a former competitor. And interesting that quite a few of Kerry Leitch's former fellas (Doug Laudret, Lyndon Johnson, Kevin Wheeler) are in such demand as pair specialists to today's crop of teams, both Canadian and American! Well done!

Good grief ! I hope they're not keeping last year's LP. It was a crime of the first order to have that very pretty girl looking so drab ! And Bryce's "street clothes" look was even worse, with the gaping pockets, the sweater that rode up, and all generally so rumpled, you'd think he'd been sleeping in them all season.....And the whole concept..hit tear-jerker melodrama movie, true love come to a sad end , grey costumes..you can't convince me they weren't trying to find their own "Love Story" - a la S/P.
No, no, no! They need some life and colour..to keep "The Way We Were ", at this stage , would only serve to remind everyone (judges included ) of the way they were last season.

I'm loving seeing the success of the graduates of the Kerry Leitch school. Doug may not only be able to help with lifts and general technique, but he's also something of a wizard with music...perhaps he'll help in that dept. as well.

Earlier , I had a vain hope ( and I knew it was probably vain) that they would go to Richard Gauthier for his superb all-round polishing..but I like this change more and more..I hope they'll take full advantage of Doug's expertise.

Not at all! THey have an air of elegance, ease and softness about them. They seem to float over the ice.

I think they have it in them to improve and make it onto the podium again. They showed a will last year with the tripple twist, which improved a lot during the season.

Well you can be elegant and exciting. Jessica seriously needs to develop more than one facial expression and stop looking (and skating) as if she's about to faint.

ITA with this!!! I can't imagine why they would keep that program and those costumes are / were a complete disaster (IMHO, of course ) Jessica is absolutely gorgeous with an amazing body ... they need to show off a bit. Do something with spunk and zip .... Hmmm I said that in the CZ thread it must be a theme! I would love to see Jessica with a cute bob hair cut and a bright coloured costume, skating to some really flirty music and putting on a show. This pair has great basics now they need to perform to the top row and give the audiences a real show. Make the judges sit up and take notice. Their programs this year should scream "Look at us, we've changed and we're better than ever!!"
A good rant is cathartic. Ranting is what keeps me sane. They always come from a different place. Take the prime minister, for example. Sometimes when I rant about him, I am angry; other times, I am just severely annoyed - it's an important distinction. - Rick Mercer

Gods, I hope they change their mind on keeping last season's LP. It's the blandest, dullest program EVER! If they want to make a fresh start they need to go all the way.

Have they actually announced their programs, or is keeping TWWW just an assumption ?

I thought they said they were keeping it? If they really want to start fresh they need new programs so hopefully they'll change their minds.

Don't they always keep their LP for two years?

Well, they ditched Carmen after only one year when it was apparent it wasn't working. I hope they make the same decision with TWWW.

Well I think that they really connect to that program and their performance of it at Nationals made them believe that this is the right program for them. I mean, at Nationals, people in the audience were crying - it did have the ability to move people. Also it is very similar to The Blowers Daughter program which won them a world medal.

The problem is that TWWW needs to be perfect, otherwise it falls flat. And J&B can't seem to skate consistently anymore.

Also they always seem to skate well at nationals, but not so well elsewhere. Which is so frustrating. The only time they skated their Carmen program clean was at nationals and you could finally really get some feeling of intensity from it. I wish they'd kept that program for 2 yrs. I know many people didn't think it worked for them, themselves included, but I don't think it was the program so much as their inconsistency, and that they didn't stick with it long enough to grow into it. Some could argue (perhaps with validity) that Jess in particular would never grow into it, but their performance at nationals showed that they could. And for me it was a way better program than the sappy TWWW, even if it was tired old Carmen. (Though I do have to say that TWWW costumes did nothing to convince me. Even though they were appropriate for the period of the movie did they have to be quite so drab and unflattering? Please God let them get new ones this season.

Agree. I really liked their Carmen. This is their only program that I liked. I wish they kept it for the Olys year. It was way more mature than the Blower's Daughter and the TWWW. There was some personality in it. They just needed more time to get into that material.

Gee , I might have been in denial...I don't have time to totally scour threads from one end to the other , but the list that Doris has been compiling at GS only shows an SP for D/D ..( Mask of Zorro )..and now I do seem to remember that it was mentioned at the end of last season ( in some interview or other ) that they intended to keep TWWW and rework it a bit. ( sigh ).My brain may have just blotted it out...

I think it's a big mistake , but if they must keep it , they really ought to change those dowdy costumes..and I continue to hope they'll have a complete change of heart.

I know people responded very emotionally to the program at Nationals, but it will still carry all last season's international baggage forward with it into the new season. While I was initially very fond of The Blower's Daughter, I thought they clung to it too long , what with using a version for exhibition , etc. So any similarities between the two programs ( in pace, tone ,or whatever ) may not work in their favour , but encourage a one-trick-pony attitude in the audience..

edit : just noticed the above couple of posts, and ITA. They pulled the plug way too soon on Carmen...

I agree. They definitely need a re-evaluation and examination of the difficulties they had last year if they are going to move forward.

    Dube/ Davison Music Selections

When they were training in Arizona for a week, they had a SP to "The Mask of Zorro" and they also continued training last year's FS to "The Way Things Were"
