Is it classy for a woman to drink Scotch, Brandy, Whiskey at a party?

Does it seem too trashy ? What's a classy drink for a woman but not too girly like a Martini?

Errrr...I'm not trying to be rude (so you know something rude is coming ) but just to help with the context, a) how old are you and b) what kind of gathering are you talking about?

I know that my mother, who is in her early 60s, would not drink whisky or scotch at an event at my dad's country club or eveningish event. *I* on the other hand, being the unkultured 'Merikun I am, would drink any of those drinks at any event should I want to so long as others (male or female) were drinking. Well, OK, I don't like brandy, scotch, or whiskey (especially whiskey, blergh) but if I wanted to, I sure as hell would.

I'm sort of perplexed to by the notion that a martini is girly. An appletini or a Cosmo, sure. But I've always associated straight-up martinis with older men in darkly-wooded cigar rooms or steakhouses.

To be safe though if that really concerns you, I'd go with sherry.

As long as one doesn't get stupidly drunk, one should drink whatever one wants.

Well, probably not Pabst. Unless it's just that kind of party.

If everyone else is drinking scotch, brandy, or whiskey, soon they'll be too snookered to notice whether a woman is drinking an "appropriate" drink. Drink whatever the h*ll you want.

That's my thought exactly... except for the bit about Pabst. But then again, I am young and the people who drink PBR are the people I hang out with.

I'm sure people don't give a damn what you drink.

My great aunt belongs to a golf club and she eats her lunch or dinner there every day with a bunch of other people her age. Maybe it is generational, but all of her lady friends her age drink scotch or whiskey before they eat, and quite a bit of it.

Just don't mix them all, or pour the leftovers into one glass

We have Johnny Walker Green Label and I love it on the odd occasion. Why the F not? Also, a good Rye (aka Whiskey) is also very nice. (I am not much of a Rye drinker though hubby is.

I would like to second the question-How is a martini girly? Unless you are talking about those fake martinis like an Apple Martini?

My husband always jokes with me because I LOVE Dirty Martini's and they make him gag, and he says I am more of a man than him because I can drink them LOL.

unless one is drinking oneself under the table, why should it make any difference?

If you think that someone would think it not ladylike and that impression is important to you, why not drink a glass of soda. Drink the scotch, brandy, whiskey et all at home.

My Little Pony, that is the most wonderful image. The Ladies Who Lunch, tossing back liquor and slamming golf balls. Go, girls! Beats the ##)(&* out of shopping, that's for sure. IMHO of course.

    I'm kinda with this question.
I drink because it's liquid. If it was solid, I'd eat it.

If it's considered trashy, then myself and all the women I know (including my mom and grandma) are Then how über trashy tequila shots must be...

Seriously, I thinks as long as you don't make a complete ass of yourself because of the liquor, I can't think of a drink that would be unelegant.
Well, belly button tequila shots may be slightly trashy

A drink is not trashy. A drunk, however, is.

You most certainly can drink whiskey or scotch. I've drank scotch for years.

A not too girly drink - whiskey sours?
    Gone crazy. Be back soon.
