When Lance Brown announced this as the teaser for the Sports report on CTV Toronto's supper hour newscast, all that was heard in this house was me shrieking, "WHAT!?!" I literally could not believe what I was hearing.

Far, far too young. My thoughts and prayers are w/his family, friends and teammates.

Very sad indeed. And channel 4's Hank Winchester did a really good job on the story.

Re: Battle of the Blades: Probert Dies

The hockey player who was on first season of BOTB (skated with Lenko, IIRC) has died at age 45

Didn't expect to see this on the news this morning.

So sad to see this. All his kids are quite young, too, with the youngest being a 4 yr old set of twin boys, I think.

Bob Probert was laid to rest today in Windsor.

    CBC Sports ~
Probert had fists of stone, gentle soul: Yzerman : NHL's Bob Probert remembered at funeral service by friends, family

    This though...*sob*...

Each of Probert's four children spoke about their father, including teenaged Brogan.

"I'm going to miss my daddy," she said, bringing many mourners to tears.

"He won't be here to walk me down the aisle, he won't be here to see me grow up."

    Godspeed.
