Anything by the Doors IMO. I love listening to them, CCR or Tragically Hip. Great tunes.

When we head out on the highway for a family trip we all sing along to The JCB Song by Nizlopi.

Chatahoochie and also When Daddy Let Me Drive by Alan Jackson are fun ones to belt out too.

If I'm by myself I like to play Emimem's Lose Yourself. It feels very empowering.

Love me some Janis Joplin. Bobby McGee's a good one for driving.

Also, Kermit and Fozzie's Moving Right Along.

    On the Road Again

My carpool listens to a classic rock station. When they play Werewolves of London, everybody has to howl along. We do get funny looks from other drivers.
When I'm old, I don't want them to say of me, "She's so charming." I want them to say, "Be careful, I think she's armed."

This is my favourite driving song - "Driving away from home" by It's Immaterial".

I agree that anything by Muse is always great driving music.

I love driving around with old, classic rock songs. Anything by the Beatles, the Doors, and the Rolling Stones is usually pretty good.

My friends and I actually drove down the Pacific Coast Highway a few weeks ago, so we picked a lot of California and road-trip related songs. My favorites were "Dani California" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, "Dashboard" by Modest Mouse, and, once we hit the O.C. (of course), "California" by Phantom Planet.

I have certain artists I like to listen to while on the road.
    Joni Mitchell
    John Stewart
    Hiroshima
    Tom Waits
    Cherryholmes (Bluegrass)

...to name a few. I taking a small road trip tonight, over into MA, so I'll be firing up the CD player in the car, 'cause it's a 2-hour ride, RT.

Bryan Adams' songs - "Summer of '69," "Run to You," "There Will Never Be Another tonight"

Lionel Richie's - "Dancing on the Ceiling"

Billy Joel's "Travelin' prayer (from "Piano Man") - actually anything by Billy Joel!

Bruce Springsteen's - "Thunder Road," "Badlands"

When I'm in my more "mellow"/folkie mood - Gordon Lightfoot's "Canadian Railroad Trilogy," "Carefree Highway," "Highway Songs" (from a wonderful album/Cd called "Old Dan's Records")

another mellow one - acapella style - James Taylor's "Lonesome Road"

Contact (fast forward through the first 30 seconds; don't know why it's there). "I'd never go driving away and come back home without you." (grr, that part was not in the link I posted.)

Other than that, anything fairly upbeat that you can sing along to.
