Well, very late with this thread, but here are the results:

Congrats to first time Belmont winners Bill Mott and Mike Smith, 2 very classy guys in racing.

The sad story coming out of the Belmont is 5th place finisher Uptowncharleybrown was DQ'd to last place b/c up the backstretch an 8lb weight pad fell out of his saddle and therefore he only carried 118lb for the majority of the race. This of course was found out when the jocks weigh in after the race. That's a 30,000 dollar mistake.

Very interesting Triple Crown series with only First Dude having been in the money for more than one race. Should be interesting this summer to see who can become the dominent 3 yr old of 2010.

I thought First Dude looked like he was trying so hard! I was kind of rooting for him to hang on at that point.

I especially enjoyed the story by Bill Nack about Secretariat and "his enduring legacy in the Belmont" that they played a couple of times throughout the day. Oh Big Red, we hardly knew 'ye!

I missed the race (was at the barn all day), but from what I hear I dodged a massive bullet missing the song before hand. I don't like "New York, New York" either (bring back "Sidewalks of New York!") but apparently inappropriate as the song is, whatever little pop tart they got to sing it was worse.

Kind of a middling TC this year. Though between Super Saver and Drosselmeyer, a good one for Winstar Farms! Oh, well, boring, bring on Zenyatta in the Vanity!
