Ouch. Kind of sad all those rumors were right. I hope they are cordial with each other for Jesse's sake. Being the child of divorced parents who hate each other is not fun growing up.
Sadly, not a surprise given the speculation that has been occurring this winter. Still, it's sad news to see such a successful partnership end and also very sad because there is a child involved. I wish them both all the best.
Sad.
I wonder why they didn't announce the divorce earlier. The couple have been separated for the last 18 months.
I was just looking for this because I read it in the Globe and Mail a few minutes ago...didn't see it on here so thought maybe I'd read wrong!!!
I would not have guessed...not that i"m privy to these things, lol.
At least it seem amicable and hopefully, if true, stays that way.
I had heard a rumor that things weren't going well. But 18 months?? WOW!
I wonder what happened?
Well what do you know, all those rumours were right. Which likely means those other rumours were right. It is very sad, especially with a 2 year old involved. You have to wonder if they even tried to make it work.
And now, I am wondering what all those rumours are...
18 months... so their son would hav been just over a year old. nice.
That's too bad, especially with a child involved.
Interesting that they're going to continue to skate together. Imagine what that has to be like.
Why wait 18 months ? Any number of reasons.I don't suppose with this being an Olympic year they would have wanted to be splat ! on the front pages again..they had contracts to fulfill..were probably deciding if the separation would be permanent or not...and whether they'd still continue to perform together...Glad it's yes,to that.
Obviously not surprising for several reasons. As for them still skating together-- well, we have seen them working together in some capacity recently, so maybe they are used to it by now. Maybe there will be less tension between them as time goes on.
It sucks when people have a child and then separate almost immediately after.![]()
Further to the discussion, I was completely shocked to learn that Josee Chouinard and Jean-Michel Bombardier have separated (and may be divorced now). According to this article, it has been four years. I never would have guessed - they had been together since they were so young and they seemed to have a very strong marriage. Their children would also have been very, very young when they separated. Just wondering if anyone knows anything more or if anyone knows what Jean-Michel is doing now? Just curious...

Sad to read this about S/P. [ETA: And can't recall if I knew about Josee either.]When I first saw S/P in the 90s I immediately fell in love with their chemistry.
Best wishes for their child.
I didn't even know Josee was married! Or if I knew, I'd forgotten. Boy, am I out of the loop.

I was watching them on a television broadcast in Vancouver, and you could almost tell that something was wrong with the way that they were acting towards each other, cold, no eye contact, no hand holding. Last time I saw them on tv together were clips from Battle of the Blades, but moreso the 2006 Winter Olympic games right after they got married. They were joking around, couldn't keep their hands off of each other.
It is sad to see these things happen to anybody, so I wish them the best and hope they get through this for the sake of Jesse. As an attorney, I have seen how ugly divorce can get.
Josee and Jean-Michel were married for a few years and have twins who must be at leat 4 years old now. They have been divorced for most of those years - since the twins were infants.
Jamie & David had contracts to commentate at the Olympics so it wouldn't have been great to announce a divorce before then. But David has been travellng to shows and competitions alone for most the 18 months and Jamie recently got a sponsorship for herself alone - can't remember for what firm.
Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle. Plato
