Thanks for the update Rock2! I guess there aren't many competitive reality shows on DVD in the first place.

Interesting to read the odds from the Winnipeg Free Press (thanks for the link shutterbug). I would guess they only take the hockey players abilities into account, but I wonder what happens once they've got their partners. Popularity also quite likely plays a roll as well. I'm not familiar with all the hockey players so the article is helpful.

I know Katia doesn't like to talk about Sergei, from the article above, but that's who I always associate her with. It's still so sad, all these years later.

Really looking forward to watching her tomorrow night though

I am getting soooo excited to see this. I like the new lady skaters but will sorely miss the ones who are not returning. Sigh, but at least we did get to see them last year. It had been waaaaay too long since I saw Barb skating and Jodeyn Higgins was always a favorite of mine too. At least we can hope we will still see Marie-France in the future.... Sigh.

I confess that I do not know some of the hockey players very well but the thing I like about this show is that they give you lots of skating but also lots of time to get to know more about the hockey players and the ladies - a very good balance imho. At least they did last year and I am hoping for more of the same.

Thanks for all the information! Do you know if CBC or anywhere else will make it available to view online? Thanks.

CBC's site geoblocks outside of Canada, even if you sign up for membership at cbc.ca. I could only watch the online features when I was in Canada. Last year, they let us vote from outside of Canada for the first couple of weeks, then they caught on...we didn't get to watch, but we got to vote??

Shae put up only their programs on her website last season when she skated with Claude - excellent! But we had to wait ages for all the youtubes of the other teams to see the whole perspective of the competition.

ETA: Oh yes, last season, if you voted, they wanted voters to enter a Canadian postal code to verify that they 'were' in Canada.

Have you ever seen a couple who does tricks w/hula hoops in any of the Disson shows? That's Violetta and Peter.

Met the two of them at the Reception after one of the Celebration On Ice shows a few years ago. Really lovely people and I still can't believe she can do the things she can do out there w/a hula hoop.

Takes all in me just to stand up straight when I'm out there on skates, so...

I got really choked up listening to Russ Courtnall talk about his Dad. The part about how he and his brother during their NHL years always said their Dad had died from a heart attack instead of the truth, that he'd committed suicide due to Depression. That says more about the stigma of Mental Illness than anything I can think of.

For the boys to come to grips w/all of what happened and then to pull off the creation of a Mental Health Faclity, and it named after their Dad, major kudos to them.

Do we have a list of the teams and their Charities yet? I'm guessing Theo and Jamie will be skating for that Ranch that Sheldon Kennedy set up for kids dealing w/being sexually abused, as that just seems the more likely one for Theo.

Just wondering if that's been announced as well.

Doesn't she specialize in a hula-hoop-on-skates act? I think she appeared in COI and skates in assorted Euro touring ice shows.

Was this the first time they have shown Marie-France's fall? Ouch! That hurt!
