I believe Theo Fleury used to take figure skating lessons as a kid before he focused on a hockey career, so we might actually be surprised by him (in a good way)....

    Kurt talks about the show:
    http://arts.nationalpost.com/2010/05...of-the-blades/
On cast dynamics, and husbands and wives: “There was a dynamic where one of the wives thought something was going on and confronted the girl. We didn’t have access to it, we didn’t even know it happened. She told me well after the show was over that the wife had come up and said “are you and…” and she said “no!”

    'Blades' skates to new location
When Battle of the Blades returns to CBC this fall, the skating will take place on a sound stage in Toronto, rather than historic Maple Leaf Gardens.

I want Katrina Witt and George Stroumboulopoulos back as judges they rocked.
I want to thank you Lord for being with me so far this day. With your help, I have not been inpatient, lost my temper been grumpy or envious of anyone. But I will be getting out of bed in a minute and I think I will really need your help then. Amen

Yes!! Kat especially, she was hysterical, although I wouldn't be surprised if the CBC said no. As long as Doug Gilmore isn't back as a judge.

I think the location brought out a lot of the hockey fans who wanted an opportunity to be in that rink again and relive old memories.. a certain amount of charm will be lost by not being there. Not much they can do about it though, so hopefully season 2 is equally as successful as the first!

Due to last season's success they no longer really need the nostalgic Maple Leaf Gardens as a drawing card.

I saw one interview where Paul Kariya said he figure skated when he was young. Whenever he retires, he might be a ringer for this (and at the very least some very welcome eye candy)....

Anyone know what other NHL players have definitely figure skated before?

Paul and Theo are both pretty tiny to be hockey players so it doesn't surprise me that they figure skated.

I'm super excited about this. I really like Theo.. he's a fighter (I mean in life.. not in hockey haha) and he'll give it his all. I didn't get to see a whole lot last season because it didn't work with my schedule but I'm thinking we'll be downloading it this season if I'm working.

    "The Russians are coming"

Globe & Mail article with more details:
    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/...rticle1583149/

There will be some new faces among the female skaters, but executive producer John Brunton isn’t revealing names yet.
“The Russians are coming,” one source said.
    Let the speculation begin

I'm thinking Elena too, and wondering if Katia Gordeeva might also be a possibility.

Am I the only person who is from Shae-Lynn's eyebrows? i don't mind thicker eyebrows but something there is very wrong...

Wasn't Marie-France Dubreuil on this show last year? or was it another show?
