Next week everyone at my school will get a letter in our mailbox about whether we've been laid off. As a recent hire, I have practically no seniority and would be the first to go if there are layoffs in the science department. I have worked so hard for three years, and please everyone can you put in a prayer that I get to stay at my job, working with kids I love?

The layoffs are apparently not chosen by the principal. It's purely "__________ need to be laid off. Whoever has the least seniority leaves." End of story. Whatever happens, it's going to suck. I'm just hoping I make the cut.

Good vibes and positive thoughts absolutely, but I frankly find a "prayer request" over a job vulgar. I know I'm going to get negative repped for this, but I do. Prayer requests are for truly life and death issues. I know times are tough and the economy sucks. Several people I know have been laid off and are struggling. You should definitely say a prayer for yourself, but I'll save my prayers for things like open heart surgery, cancer treatments and things of unfaceable consequences.
