How does somebody who is so unprofessional and well plain STUPID manage to remain the head of the federation?

I mean we're not talking about Russia or Poland here but a supposedly civilised country where the levels of corruption are much much lower and things can't be simply explained with "he has friends in the right places."

Actually, while corruption is indeed infrequent, the "he has friends in the right places" thing is probably the cause of the problem.

I've just finished watching a horrendously depressing documentary on French young people who are bright, overqualified and motivated and can't find jobs - being someone's son or daughter is still a tremendous advantage.

That's not unique to France. There's a similar situation in southern Italy.

I think Gailhaguet is constantly re-elected at the head of the fed because he has put his own people in all the right places, and give them just enough power to serve his and their interests, a power they wouldn't let go even if their lives depended on it. He is virtually bolted to his seat and charge, he'll be there as long as he's alive...

That is really sad about Canac/Bonheur. This president surely knows how to ruin careers, he did the same with this test skate idea last March that made Yannick Ponsero give up (apparently, not a word from him since then).

France and civilised more then Poland? You were not working for any French company yet? You would see more socialism/protectionism/I-isms/Friendlisms etc. here than in any ordinary Polish/Czech/Hungarian one (bringing my own experience and two experiences of my wife)

I shall answer my own question!
I've just talked to Stan and Harmony who are competing at the Lyon International this weekend, and they say that Zoe is injured. She has torn an abductor. They consequently had to withdraw from Dortmund and both GP's. They are both still training, but Zoe is limited in what she can do for the moment.

Even though they didn't get GP France, at least Mélodie Chataignier/Mehdi Bouzzine got an international assignment this year, they were just added to NRW Trophy.

Bless their hearts... it's great for France to have a pairs scene. Not sure they'll be aiming for international assignments, though.

I can't imagine them being very successful with so little height difference.

She seems to have a perfect figure for pairs, but she'd need a taller partner.

Although this is not really "news", here is a link to an interview of the FFSG Communication Officer made during Bompard Trophy. The federation has been muchly criticized in every aspect of what it does but some people there are working their a** off to try to improve things as much as they can.
