Awful, she was getting up there but still too young to die! I loved her on Designing Women.

She's actually a couple of years younger than my mom...

I'll never forget him in That Certain Summer. Martin Sheen, of all people, played his lover.

OMG! I didn't realize she was sick either and I'd been seeing her as of late in an ad for some type of muscular disease although I don't think she was suffering from it herself.

RIP Dixie and my condolences go out to Hal and the rest of her family.

My biggest memory of Dixie was from Designing Women even though she has done much more than that.

Oh, no no no no no! Sadness, extreme sadness! I loved Dixie! She was a wonderful actress. Designing Women is tied for my favorite show on tv ever, with MASH. She was so beautiful and funny! I even had her UnWorkout yoga video!

Goodbye, Dixie Carter! You were awesome!

I was curious why no official cause of death was mentioned but Carmen O may have given us a clue above.

Anyway, very sorry to hear this. She seemed like a cool person, and she and Hal seemed to have a great marriage.

I'm half-watching Tina Fey on SNL right now and was reminded of when she did a Julia Sugerbaker-type rant on 30 Rock.

The news reports made it sound as if the family is still in a bit of shock.

When I saw the clip, Dixie looked fine. I assumed that she must have a friend or family member who was suffering from it. I'll need to pay attention if it gets aired again because I can't remember the medical term for it.

    You will be missed.

My heart goes out to Mr. Holbrook and her daughters.

Here's a good article from a Tennessee paper:
