I'm assuming that if Winnipeg gets the bid for worlds, they will want to hold a test event in the next year or two. I'm assuming this because it's what they did in Edmonton in 1996. It has been almost 10 years since Winnipeg has hosted a big event, so I would think that would be a wise plan. From that point, they can then make decisions about Skate Canada and Canadians.

But, that is making the big assumption that Winnipeg will win the bid to host the world championship. Just a possibility for the delay...

Probably more likely that the new bid process is causing some hasstles... based on what has been described in the discussion.

Maybe Vancouver will get to host Skate Canada this year. It's been a while since we hosted an international skating event (he!he!).

All kidding aside, I hope it is given to Winnipeg. My goal is to visit all the provincial capitals via Skate Canada competitions (I have visited 5 of them now). I would love an opportunity to visit Winnipeg.

But which ever city is chosen, I look forward to finding out soon.

Are you me? One of my goals is to visit every Canadian province and territory before I kick it. Maybe Skate Canada will be held in Nunavut?

It's bigger than Lake Placid, and certainly easier to get to.

It's not too big in terms of population, but it's pretty popular with tourists, so there are quite a few hotels... and they're just blocks from the arena!

why are all the events for Canada in Ontario? Come on, this is ridiculous!!

I want something in Winnipeg; hopefully this means we at least get Nationals or even Worlds (I would go to both!). i assuming that won't even be a possibility now as Nationals are usually close to where Skate Canada is.

What did we do wrong in Winnipeg to never get another event? Last nationals was standing room only!

Skate Canada subliminally pleads with V/M and JoRo to stay in next season by offering them a GP that's basically a pleasant drive from their hometowns.

    ITA, another event in Ontario?!

I would've far preferred it to be in Saint John or Winnipeg....I'm trying to visit all the provinces too, haven't been to Manitoba or New Brunswick yet.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see where nationals ends up.
