Kate's brought this backlash on herself... her claims of "I have to make enough" to support the kids would not sound so bad is she wasn't having hair extensions, going to "preimers" and otherwise trying to play "celebrity" and "Saint" at the same time. She claims the kids come first... Yeah right! The kids come first becausae without 8 kids she's just a nobody. But if the kids came first thier Easter Egg hunt would have been in the BACK YARD where the press couldn't see them, not the FRONT YARD, with mom dressed up like a "wannabe" star so the press could get photos!
I am never found of people who want me to belive the end of thier marraige was ALL the other persons' fault.
I'm still convinced that if it ever began to look like Jon might have an actual chance of getting custody of all eight, he'd run like mad.

From the article:
The 35-year-old mom adds: "It's not my lack of ability, but lack of presence."
Sorry, Kate, it's a lack of your ability.
that's an easy fix; he can move in the house with the kids and Kate can come by on her visitation time. While she is there, he can go back to Manhattan.
Wasn't Jon a stay-at-home dad when they were married? So it would be just like before, only he wouldn't have to deal with Kate and he'd get paid. Doesn't sound like such a bad plan to me.
sorry to be the cynic, but maybe this is all just a publicity play to gain sympathy for Kate and keep her on DWTS a little longer (the custody ploy)??
As for single moms who are on television...the majority of them didn't use their children to get famous. I can't think of an actress or other celebrity single mother on a television show who has done so. So I would say that's a big difference.
How many of them as others mentioned put their kids on tv. Plus, I'm pretty sure that in any scenario if you have one parent who says that they will be the stay at home parent/primary giver. Thats in a lot of cases considered better than the kids being left with overnight nannies.Originally Posted by Prancer
Do you think the same of other single moms with TV shows? Should they lose custody of their children because they aren't home enough?
What was Jon's job before TLC came calling?

Jon was an IT specialist.
I thought he was in that field.
He wasn't/isn't penniless; or without a marketable skill, then.
During the few times I've seen him, he seemed to lack "initiative".
I don't know whether that could be the reason for; or as a consequence of, Kate's behavior.
As to Jon's IT career: he was 'let go' from his job several years ago, and that's why he was a stay-at-home dad. Maybe if Jon had been more of a go-getter, he wouldn't have lost his job. I don't see how you can blame Kate's behavior for Jon's job performance.

I believe both Jon and Kate are still getting money from TLC, and will continue to do so when the show goes back on the air, so in spite of Kate's tears and Jon's complaints, neither they nor the children are lacking financial resources.
