^^^ Does it matter what we've posted in this thread?'Cause I didn't post specifically about Juulia's possible placement at Worlds...

Is Turkkila working on the harder triples? I know she's not competing with them, but I would imagine she's at least trying them in practice?

Thank you for the news! It's great to see the continuing depth among Swedish teams.
I'm surprised about Russia: they were strong a few years ago at Senior Worlds in Colorado Springs a few years ago, and they gained a coveted second spot. Too bad there's no Synchro in the Olympics, or they'd be on a roll towards Sochi.

Should I send my shipping address now for my Champagne? lol Please send packed in dry ice so I can enjoy immediately on arrival.
She was trying 3lo in her FS earlier this season, might try it again at Worlds. So I assume she at least has a 3lo that's somewhat consistent in practice. Haterz. Julia is pretty and blonde and Finnish, and she's now the top Finnish lady going to Worlds, I predict if she lands her 3-3 in the SP, the judges will become mesmerized by her great Finnish basics and good looks, decide she is Kiira Korpi 2.0, and her PCS will suddenly shoot into the 7s, and then she will make the top 10 overall. If Lepisto can win World bronze with a bunch of doubles I don't see why Juulia can't finish in the top 10.
GOOOOO JUULIA! I believe in you.
She has 3lo. She tried it in a few competitions this season. And she has 3-3 in her SP. I don't want others to bomb, but honestly, so many of the skaters in the ladies event, especially the European ones, are so inconsistent anyways that it's not entirely out of the question that Juulia could place in the top 10. If she skated 2 clean programs and hit the 3-3 in the SP, she'd probably score like 150-155, which likely would be enough. Idk. She probably won't make top 10, she might not even make the FS, but it is within the realms of possibility. I never thought Hecken would be top 12 at Worlds and then she was twice.
If she has the same great Finnish basics as Poykio, Kettunen, and Lepisto -- I'm a holdout on Korpi, because I think below the thigh she's too rough -- then the judges should be mesmerized and those blade skills and soft knees should be rewarded.

Juulia Turkkila landed all her jumps in her SP (3T+3T, 3S, 2A; scored 52.25) at Finnish Nationals in December 2011: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6CdEK2oCnA
Yes and she scored 93+ for her FS there where she popped the first sal and doubled the second. Soo if she skates clean at Worlds she really could score like 150-155, which might be enough for top 10. It's a tall order but she really is a lovely skater when "on". Regardless of placement, I just hope she skates well in Nice. She's beautiful to watch and has grown into such a stunning young woman, I hope she can become a Finnish star like her older teammates in the future, she has the talent.
OT but I'm also excited to see Simanckova at Worlds. She seemed to be gaining momentum at Euros but then wasn't as good at JWC. I'm excited she has all the triples through flip now, she is another OES with a lot of potential, and she's only 16!
Hecken has all the triples. AFAIK she never did a 3flip in competition yet but she did all the others and all triples are consistent in practice (which is still a way from being consistent in competitions).
Anyway - sad for Finland. After Laura Kiira was really needed.I prefer Laura's skating by fifty miles but I am still sad for Kiira. It always is if a skater cannot compete because of injury and Kiira had her fair share of health problems already.

I meant Finnish synchro teams.

Last year she did 3t, 3s, and one 3f in her Worlds FS where she placed 11th, she tried also for 3lo but it was <<. The year before she did 3t, 3s, and did not try 3f or 3lo, just one 3lz which she fell on and was marked <. She has never consistently had anything more than 3t and 3s but managed to place twice 12th in the Worlds, and her spins, etc are not as strong as Juulia.
Hecken's spins might not be a strong point, but she definitely has tons more power and speed to her skating. Turkkila is slow for a skater at her level -and visibly so, so her PCS aren't going to be all the great, even if her posture and ballet training make her a pleasant skater to watch.
i'm posting too coz i like champagne ...
and oh ... alisa mikonsaari gets her chance to skate on the world stage. wonder what her chances are of making it to the short programme/final. watched her finlandia trophy performance. rather determined lady she seems to be ... (triple toe-triple toe, triple lutz in short programme ... underrotated but not bad attempts). A little scratchy but her presentation was again not bad (coached by Urmanov!) ... really too bad that Finland will be down to one spot nxt year ... (so whoever goes to Worlds will have big pressure of making it in the top ten to earn 2 spots for Sochi ...)
