DUI is stupid and Juha Valkama certainly has not made an impression of being stupid to me.
As soon as we get some information of Lepistö´s condition, I´ll let you know. She, as all the top Finnish skaters, are scheduled in ice gala 19.4. (and I´ll be in Budapest that day).
Kiira Korpi and Laura Lepistö fighting for the only world spot next year...
I was confused by matti's post above until I saw thenews of Kiira Korpi's withdrawal posted in the 2012 Worlds forum in Kiss and Cry:
Juulia Turkkila is very subpar this season. She's gonna be lucky to get in the final.. Sad news about Korpi![]()
Korpi already had an injury in the EC. Like Lepistö´s, it got worse when she was trying to recover and practice.
It would be a miracle (and a very bad competition) if Turkkila could made to the top 10 in Nizza. So back to the basics for the Finnish ladies.
I don´t even try the smilies, they can not express my feelings. Poor Kiira, poor Laura.
Sad news. It would take a lot for the younguns to go 15/13 or qualify for the FS/12.

As I pointed out, Sarah Hecken placed 12th at Worlds 2 times and she has 2 triples as well. Or maybe she has 3, but only her 3t and 3s are solid. Both years she did better at Worlds than at Euros. I know Julia hasn't been skating so well this season but her 3t-3t in SP seems solid now, so it's not out of the realms of possibility.
The Fintastic synchro team is leading after the SP at the Jr Worlds Synchro Championship.
The second Finnish team, the Musketeers, is in 2nd place.

place ahead of her and Juulia comes in 10th. It's not completely out of the question, with the way Ksenia has been bombing. Other OES ladies are unpredictable, like Gede is capable of bombing and falling out of top 10, as well as Helgesson. Idk. Didn't Juulia score in the 140s or 150s at Nationals and Nordics?
It's not impossible, but your list means one spot left in the top ten for Makarova, Helgesson, Gedevanishvili, Turkila, Hecken, and at least one surprise possibility.

And where do you place Marchei?
Remember my promise before Euros re: Kiira? Well this time it's; "If Turkilla finishes top ten at worlds, I will buy everyone who's posted in this thread a case of Moet."
In all seriousness, I wish Kiira a speedy recovery. Sigh, two of my faves, both of whom happen to be Finnish, are injuredSad times.
Anyway (as kwanfain pointed out), since two girls are going, it won't be up to only Juulia. Also Mikonsaari has to at least qualify for the free skate. In that case, Juulia would have to place 12th.
Yeah, me too. I'm happy if Finnish skaters do well but I would choose great skates overall and acompetition any day over Finnish success.
And not to be pessimistic or anything but how likely is it that both Kiira and Laura will be healthy in a year's time and therefore actually competing for the only spot? With their history of injuries.... If that DID happen, then at least it'd be interesting to see them really having to go for it.
