He alternates between being totally expressionless and plastering a smile on his face. He's always stiff. He really needs to work on his stage presence because, given the weakness of the field, he could make it to the final two or three with his vocals, guitar-playing, and looks.

his growl was anaemic. That song deserves more fire. Man, if he had just thrown the guitar over his shoulder and ran around with the mike a little, or gone over and jammed with the horns, it would have been 100 times better.

If he wants to play the guitar every song, he needs to study the Boss.

I can't believe they're 35 minutes into this and only 2 songs! Are they trying to keep people from switching to DWTS and Lost?

My Fox channel just came in during the middle of Usher working with Mike Lynch. Anyone else have that issue or was it local? Anyway, missed the first two but settled in the rest. I am cooking so thankfully I have a nice distraction from most of the contestants. Why do we do this to ourselves?

Michael sings Ready for Love which I've never heard of before. A pretty dull and generic song, but he has very good vocals and made it bearable.

I thought that was really nice from Michael. I have always loved his voice but he can leave me cold even if his voice is spot on. I think he connected with this song and I enjoyed it more because of that.

My favourite performance from him. Probably because he wasn't moving around, which is where he generally goes to cheese city for me.

the most interesting thing so far is that Usher wears his sunglasses when he is with the contestants, like he is afraid of looking them in the eye for fear of absorbing some of their collective suckitude

I think the snarking may turn out to be the best part of this season.

Yes, and he doesn't usually wear shades constantly. I don't know what his deal is today. Maybe he was out late drinking?

I like that Fox is totally stringing this out. I can watch DWTS and AI on the same TV.
