I would love to see more of the "skating family" join Joannie's iheartmom cause on Facebook - http://www.causes.com/causes/475073?m=201a30ae

Connect up with your facebook account, invite your friends, and seriously consider making a donation in honor of Joannie, her mother, or your own mother... even your own cardio health!

The only thing I don't like about the photos is realizing that the more she finds to do outside of skating, the less likely she is to return to the sport and compete.

She needs to have some space this year, given her tragic loss. Give her time, and let her decide what is in her future. Must say, gal was always a beauty, but that photoshoot really brings out the best in her.

After probably the biggest and bussiest summer of her life, for her to come out in early October and give the kind of performance she gave at Japan Open WITHOUT A COACH!!! makes me believe competing is in her blood, and that she's not done with it yet

Yeah, kudos for Joannie to come out with a performance like that without a coach, but... I feel that by not doing the harder jump in her repertoire (the Lutz, and I do know that it's the first competition and she probably hasn't practised much) I fear that she may have lost the ability to do it.

I do agree with Rock2 that it may seem like she is unlikely to return to competition (it's the greediness in me that wants her to come back), and given the fact that she's 24 years of age it's getting up there for a female figure skater. However, Joannie's skating did seem much lighter at the Japan Open, I must say.

Does anyone know if she has made any new programs for this season?

All I know is she has said TWICE on her twitter page that Japan Open was the first competition of the season for her, so intentions to skate at Canadian Nationals at the present time appear promising. I bet Jo lands the 3Lutz in practice and I seriously don't think she would have planned a 3Lutz in her program if she couldn't do it. I just chalk the double in her JO LP to lack of training and to it being her 1st competition since the Olympics in February.
There's no need for any skater to be perfect in October.

I also want to say she looks stunning and sexy in the new photoshoot. Looks like a little Lady Gaga influence in a couple of those shots with the glitter makeup and the exotic head piece. She's so lovely!

Joannie would have to find a new coach if she wanted to continue competing, correct?

Or she could do what Michelle Kwan did. Have someone as an advisor. In the Japan Open thread someone mentioned that as a possibility.

That is truly creepy. And weird. And disturbing. That guy can't seriously think he has talent can he? Wow. The whole thing is just sad really. And creepy. And weird. And disturbing.

I couldn’t either. Way beyond creepy.

Jo talks a bit about her future plans in the article: ‘Heart’ tugs skater to show

And Rochette, 24, hasn't abandoned competitive skating. She will be skating in a professional competition in Japan right before the Youngstown show, and she hasn't ruled out another Olympic bid.

''I might get bored (with skating exhibitions), need a challenge and I might come back,'' she said. ''I want to keep skating as long as my body holds up.''
Is it mean to hope that she gets really bored really quickly?
