messed up.
According to Wikipedia, as of this month, the ISU ranked her #2. Gal never ceases to amaze me, this a scant 2 months after her tragic loss.
Article on Joannie Rochette's appearance to help launch the University of Ottawa Heart Institute’s new campaign for women’s heart health
Joannie Rochette tells her story to help others
Her education is probably another factor that she'll take into account when deciding her competitive future. The article says she is finishing CEGEP this year and would like to become a doctor. With her experience and emotional maturity, I think she would make a great doctor.

Dr Rochette...Dr Debi Thomas...Biologist Rachael flatt....list keeps growing.
Can't even imagine how hard Mother's Day will be for her this year- but she'll still be on tour right? Hopefully she'll have the other skaters to comfort her..![]()
Joannie on The Hour.

She's named one of Canada's women of the year![]()
What an amazing woman.. she's most definitely an inspiration.
Sad when she says she'll never heal though.. and she says some days are still really hard for her. I'm just glad she's surrounded by friends who care about her and take care of her; and she'll be with her dad soon enough. She's such a gorgeous skater and I've loved her programs on SOI.
Thanks for posting the link for the Hour. Joannie is an amazing woman.
Thanks for the link. She looks gorgeous.
Does anyone remember the name (and year) of the skate she did to music inspired by when her mom and dad met? I loved that number, but can't seem to find it.
DH - and that's just my opinion
yes, and here's the debut of the program at Skate Canada 2005:

My heart is going to be aching for Joannie tomorrow- hopefully she will have lots of good people around her to give her support..it's gotta be tough, the first Mother's Day without your Mom around.
Joannie should still be on the SOI tour, performing in Calgary tomorrow. The show should keep her somewhat busy, and perhaps she may be in the company of the other cast members when off ice.
According to Rochette's FB fan page, Rochette is now brand ambassador for BIRKS:

(I had to read to the bottom to find out that BIRKS is a luxury jewelry store, called "Brinkhaus" in Calgary and Vancouver, and was the official jewelry supplier of the 2010 Olympics/Paralympics.)
