Sylvia, just to make a distinction that perhaps should be made, is the Ice Dreams show the one profit-making (commercial) show in the group? All the others look like not-for-profit fund-raisers of one sort or another. I could be wrong and am asking.

Didn't the Evening with Champions use to be in October in previous years? This kind of sucks, there is Ice Chips on April 10, SOI the same weekend and Evening with Champions the week after that. I don't think many skating fans can afford to go to all three, it's kind of a harebrained idea to schedule all of them so close together.

Yes, normally it's in the fall. I think they may have changed it due to the Olympics and possibly having the draw of Olympians at their show. Not sure when the organizers did that, if they realized they'd be following 2 other ice skating shows in the Boston area. SOI seems to always conflict with one of the Ice Chips show, but I think the fan base is different so I'm not sure either one of those shows would be impacted by the other.

Returning to the rink Friday and Saturday [April 16-17] is the Penn State Ice Rink 27th Annual Ice Show. The show will feature 24 theatrically themed ice skating numbers, including a guest appearance by U.S. Figure Skating Championship competitor Ryan Bradley.

Amy Torcasso, figure skating director at the Greenberg Ice Pavilion, said Bradley will be skating to a Mozart piece, which will be both impressive and comedic.

The Cleveland Skating Club’s annual ice show takes place at 7:30 p.m. May 7 and 8 at 2500 Kemper Rd., Shaker Heights [Ohio].

This year’s event, titled “The Gifts,” stars Kimmie Meissner, 2006 Olympian and world champion, and Cleveland’s Parker Pennington, winner of the men’s senior sectionals and regionals in 2009 and a competitor at the U.S. National Figure Skating championships.
