    Streaks

I was just thinking about the fact that the US ladies won 8 consecutive bronze medals at Worlds, 1984 to 1991.

Of course, in some of those years they also won gold or silver, or both in 1991 when they swept the podium.

So what are some other interesting or fun medal streaks?

Australia to date has never won a medal. Does that count?
I guess the hard thing for a lot of people to accept is why God would allow me to go running through their yards, yelling and spinning around.

Obvious one: Russian or Soviet pairs won the Olympic gold for 12 consecutive Olympic games.

Russian ladies won the gold at Europeans 8 consecutive times, from 1996 to 2003.Granted, it was the same two ladies winning over and over

American ladies won JW bronze for 6 consecutive years - 2004-2009.

What about the every reigning American World Champion winning Olympic Gold until after Scott Hamilton?

ETA: not sure if this is right, but I remember them mentioning something of the like in commentary at the Olympics.

    Worlds:

    US men won from 1948 - 59
    Russian men won from 1998 - 2004
At least one US lady has been on the podium from 1995 - 2006

That is not quite correct; it is that every American male who has gone into the Olympics as reigning world champion has won the gold medal, up to and including Evan Lysacek. This streak is still alive.

    Grishuk & Platov's results at Worlds 1990-1994 were 5-4-3-2-1.
Platov was 6th in 1989 with his previous partner, so he went 6-5-4-3-2-1.

Nancy Kerrigan's results at US Nationals 1989-1993 were also 5-4-3-2-1. When I mentioned this on another site years ago, another poster pointed out that she could be considered to have finished "0th" in 1994.

Does half-naked count? (I was thinking of the guy in the tutu and no shirt who appeared at Worlds 2004, just before Kwan's free)
