"First and foremost, I have to do all of my combinations," he admitted. "I'm a constant leave-it-outer. I think I've lost more titles because of double toes than any other skater in history.
"I'm still a little bit old school; I kind of think triple-double-double [combinations] are silly, but hey, they help rack up the points. That's my problem and I have to get over it fast. Like now."
Understatement of the past four years. Glad he finally gets the math.

Well, he could do 3-3-2 if he thinks that's less silly But yeah, it would be great to see him not leave any points on the table.

I respect him so much for never quitting and I hope good things happen for him. Forget about trying to be perfect, Johnny! Just pretend you're sick and take it one jump at a time!

No kidding! It drives me batty every time he doubles the back end of a combination. But, I will say that he's gotten much better about not totally rechoreographing his programs and has started planning/thinking about how to compensate under the COP if he does totally leave out the second jump.

I hope he can just stay healthy.

I have to admit that "Weir" and "unflappable" are words I didn't expect to see together in a news headline. . .

And yes, Johnny, please ditch the Bump-Its/pompadour look. It's positively dreadful.

Eight pounds in one day?! That is insane.
Man, I love Johnny's candor. There's always this sense of sarcastic wit to his outlook.
I just hope his physical condition can keep up with his positive frame-of-mind; wherein

I said it before and I'll say it again--the setback last year was probably what's needed to give Weir the impetus needed to get back on top again. I know no one wants our favorites to suffer any setback, but sometimes you have to take the bitter to taste the sweet.

He looked pretty fashionable with that black and white outfit on IN, though the hairdo shown in the article photo is

Those moments of uncertainty were brief but costly. Coming off a world bronze medal in 2008, Weir opened the 2008-09 season with a silver medal at Skate America, losing gold by a hair to then-unheralded Takahiko Kozuka of Japan. He went on to take silver at Japan's NHK Trophy despite competing with a heavy cold. A few weeks later, he won bronze at the Grand Prix Final in Goyang, South Korea.

That's when his luck ran out. Over Christmas, Weir traveled to South Korea a second time, to perform in friend Yu-Na Kim's "Angels on Ice" show benefiting children's charities. While there, he caught a bug, losing eight pounds in a single day and spending Christmas Day in a hospital.

I didn't know it was humanly possible to lose 8 lbs in one day.
