Hadley will probably have the same fate. Otherwise what would happen in that season? The whole book is basically based on her looking into that. And we won't have any Amelia if not! Amelia needs to be there, if only for the Pam.

And as for the inspiration of Eric, in the viking scene Eric he does definitely look like that, however that actor looks much to old to play him, considering in the books he was what, 24 when he was turned? (though in the TB universe they have made a 'bio' saying he was like 30 when turned). But then again, Pam was supposed to be 19 when turned, and though I love her, Kristin Bauer is not 19 (again in the TB universe they have changed her 'bio' to make her early 30s).

I have a question re: Hadley in the books. I've read books 1-8 now and I'm wondering if there is a book dedicated to Hadley

    Spoiler

If there isn't a book about it, that's one of the stupidest things I've come across. Harris is kind of a shitty writer, but I didn't expect such a glaring hole!

Hadley is explained in a novella--One Word Answer. It's in an anthology--Laurell K. Hamilton is listed as the first author. I think the novella is called Love Bites, but I'm not sure.

Ah, yes. The Janet Evanovich mode of writing. I'd wondered if I missed something myself, but just blew it off.

Jason and Andy had me discussing Sam's sex life as a dog or a chicken.

First glimpse of Hadley. Where were the Queen's body guards? I was expecting the Warrior brothers and whatshisname that Sookie didn't like.

So, who will Sookie kill in the finale? I'm betting it's Eggs.

I said novella, but that's incorrect--it's only about twenty pages, if that. And it's still not all that clear what transpired with Hadley. If you're really curious, I'd just go to the bookstore and read those pages. I bought it, since I read three of the series mentioned in it, and it was a waste of time and money. None of them were very good, or elucidated any point or idea. You're not any clearer for having read it on Hadley's backstory.

Also found out upon whom Charlaine Harris modeled the physical characteristics/appearance of bookEric. It's Vladimir Kulich from the movie the 13th Warrior. Makes sense now-- all this talk of leonine hair etc from the books. Personally, I thought Banderas was the hotter one in that film, but also thought the film was really silly.
I actually liked that movie and thought it was pretty original....but yeah Banderas was definitely the better looking one of the movie.

Thanks, Matry! I was just so weirded out; I seriously thought there was a whole book that I had somehow missed. I guess I do have all the information I need to understand the Hadley-and-subsequent storyline, but I still think it's a stupid and lazy mechanism. For shame, Charlaine, for shame!

Answers the question, "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?"

It was Sam the shapeshifter came first, then turned into a chicken and laid an egg. So the chicken came first.

As a whole this episode was 'meh.

Liked: Eric flying and the teacup humans part. Jason's line about 'It's in the Bible...or maybe the Constitution'. Pam's 80s'/Dynasty outfit fabulousness. Finally we are seeing some of the sense of humor she has in the books (it's about friggin' time).

    Disliked:

    Spoiler

I also hate that Eric has been written straight back into bad-guy mode and that they are acting like the whole Godric/Eric thing didn't happen, especially with the way Sookie still is so negative towards Eric. Blech. Tara is officially an idiot for going back to Eggs, and she and Eggs breaking Sookie's Gran's things peeved me off. Overall the Maryann storyline should have wrapped up about 4 episodes ago.

I gotta watch that episode again because I totally missed that.

Jason's character makes me howl. Him and Pam had the best lines this episode.

I love Evan Rachel Wood as the Queen. "You and Eric should just feck each other and get it over with."

If I'm ever a vampire, I want to be just like her. Complete with succulent Slavs.

Eric in a dress, Eric and the teacups, Eric in a silver suit, Eric pissing off Bill and Eric flying (!) were the best parts of the episode.

I would so watch a show called TrueBlood: The Eric Northman Chronicles

Hated the Queen. Why does she talk like a valley girl?!

Didn't like Evan Rachel Wood as the Queen. Love the character, the setting(killer day room ) complete with the all you can eat buffet , but she fell flat for me.

I lurve Jason. His by play with Andy was hilarious. Sam shapeshifting into a chicken, and possibly eating his own egg? His hard knock life of working out and watching a lot of porn Classic!

On that same note, maybe Jason isn't that far off and it would explain the egg in the nest that Tara and Eggs were guarding. Then again, maybe it it is connected with Eggs in some way, hence the name.

Ack! I LOVE the show when it stays within the vampire storyline. Once it jumps into Maryann and her random orgies, it completely loses me. The egg is completely random. Will I be tuning in, in two weeks to find out how they explain the whole thing...heck yeah!

I agree. This is someone who we're supposed to believe is even older than Godric? I didn't expect her to LOOK older, but I expected her to be a little more imperious in her behavior. They cast the role too young IMO.

I couldn't understand how old she was supposed to be either.

I thought she said something on Sunday's episode about being 'turned' right before the industrial revolution but that would make her quite young for a vampire. I was thinking 'how did she get to be Queen when she is only @ 100 years old?'

The industrial revolution was more than 100 years ago. We're in the 21st century now, and it was pretty much a 19th century phenomenon, with beginnings in the 18th.

But anyway I thought she said the Latvian boy tasted like people did before the Industrial Revolution, which would mean she was old enough as a vampire to have a basis for comparison. I don't remember any clues more specific than that.
