You sure? TdF Starts July 3rd, next weekend. I know, I can't wait either.

    Have fun TheatherGirl!

ETA: I just looked. It's a TdF preview show on Verus. There's also some other specials your Tivo Might not pick up. One called Lance Vs. Contador seriously?

My tivo "to do" list goes 2 weeks in advance, so it's up to July 4th already (and now it's the prologue and stage 1 ) I've had to delete Lance Armstrong: The Look Back about 20 times already

Ohh, I thought you meant you saw it on the list for this weekend

I actually like the Lance, A look back. It's actually something different every time it airs. It's always a replay of a stage he won. I wasn't a cycling fan until 2008 (and I didn't have Versus then) so I actually never saw any of those races or riders who have since retired.

I caught one of those "a look back" episodes, which was showing the final time trial of the 2005 TdF, right before he retired. While it was a bit irritating to hear Phil and Paul go on about how this was the last time we would ever see Lance compete (not quite, guys), it was great to see der Jan, and Ivan Basso, and a younger Vino and Cadel Evans (who looked about 16). And it was hilarious to see Michael Rasmussen fall four times. Complete disaster of a day for him.

Oh I remember that stage! Classic time trialing by Rasmussen.

ETA: According to Frank and Andy Schleck's twitter accounts, Kirchen was removed from the medically induced coma and is doing better. Good news!

Good for Jani. He was supposed to be a team leader at the Vuelta, but I guess they don't need to save any form for that race now. Also glad to see Horner on the team after his disappointment last year. He really is a team player and seems like such a nice guy.

ETA: No shock here, Phinney signs on as a Radio Shack stagiare for the rest of the season

Column on Cavendish, but I particularly loved this quote:

The problem was, the exact same people it was aimed at are the ones who took exception to it. They're the ones who want to see me fail. I didn't say "all journalists know nothing about bike racing". I said "the journalists who know nothing". That's not all journalists. It's the ones who don't understand bike racing and it's these daylight-deprived forum people."

Mark Cavendish. I love him, but he should be seen and not heard some of the time.

He and the HTC lead out are fun to watch, though.

Saxo Bank's DS Kim Andersen left the team amidst reports that he intends to start up a new Luxembourg team in 2011. Apparently Riis released him from his contract because of the conflict with his wanting to start a new team, presumably with many of the Saxo riders.

Riis has acknowledged the Schlecks will be leaving Saxo at the end of the season to join the new team. This can't help the team unity for the Tour. With the top riders leaving, does this kill any chance Riis has to get a sponsor and continue Saxo Bank next season? Riis has also indicated Fugslang is likely to be joining the new team.

Ricco is a jerk, but I can't believe he finished the time trial in the Tour of Austria like this after crashing

AP News article says Contador rejected a contract extension at Astana and will "calmly" consider all options.

Continued speculation that he'll sign with Riis..

It looks like it's official: the Schlecks are outta there....
    http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/schl...s-part-company

But it still sounds like Riis already has new sponsorship wrapped up (Specialized, Sungard, and there are rumors that the main sponsor may be Siemens....none of that has quite the same ring as Sexy Back) and enough funds to pay Alberto's salary if he joins. And where Alberto goes, his Spanish Armada will follow. Seriously, those guys, like Navarro, were real troopers in the mountains....chapeau. I always felt bad for Andy since he was always alone in the mountains and Alberto usually had a squad of guys with him.

Alberto is signed with Specialized. Regardless of what team he rides for, he WILL ride on a Specialized bike. So it makes sense.

Wow, imagine what an advantage that is...Riis knows everything about the Schleks. Wonder where the rest of Sexy Back will land? I am sure Cancallara could have the pick of any team he wants.

Riis's team makes sense for Bert, particularly because of the Specialized link, but I don't really like the idea.

Bert's had the unusual experience of being the best rider in the world, and still having to fight to be recognized as the leader on the team. I have to think wherever he goes, he'll make certain he's the undisputed leader and has a lot of say about who rides with him at various races. He's certainly earned that right and I can see why he wouldn't want another Armstrong or Vino situation, but all of this seems counter to the "team first" attitude that Riis has always tried to instill.
