Lots of info and interesting quotes in the article Sylvia posted.
From the article:
In addition to the documentary, which premiers in New York next month, Pellerito and Barba are working on a documentary series to air on the Sundance cable channel next year.
"The movie takes Johnny through the world championships in 2008; the series picks up from there," Pellerito said. "The focus of the series is how Johnny deals with [his fifth-place finish] at U.S. nationals this year, not going to worlds, and the challenges he has trying to make the [2010] Olympic team again."
"The idea is for it to start [airing] in very early January," Barba added. "There will be eight episodes, seven [taking place] before the Olympics and the eighth after the Olympics. That final episode will be sort of a 'Where is Johnny now?' wrap-up."
Q: Why can't I read the competition threads?

I didn't know Priscilla was a lesbian.
We're not?
Sounds like they planned Johnny’s low placement at U.S. Nationals so as to make for a more entertaining TV series. That was very giving of Johnny."The movie takes Johnny through the world championships in 2008; the series picks up from there," Pellerito said. He's quite a mimic!![]()
But it's all muscle...no fat. And he has curves (but the film didn't show that).![]()
Am I the only one who thinks this trailer seems to target a very specific audience? I don't mind it at all if that's what they intended to do, but with a trailer like this, people will surely expect a certain kind of atmosphere, or attitude, expressed in the film. What I find reassuring is that this attitude is 100% Johnny; what I find troubling is that it might hurt the film's chances of appealing to a larger audience. But I suppose the most important thing was to make sure that it doesn't present some fake image of Johnny, just to please some people who want him to be less "outrageous" and more "likeable".
*Joya re-reads own post and tries to figure out it if makes sense*
This is encouraging:
hmm...now this is getting VERY tempting, esp. if we hear that Johnny will grace the NY premiere with his presence! In addition to the documentary, which premiers in New York next month, Pellerito and Barba are working on a documentary series to air on the Sundance cable channel next year.
ETA: Inside Edge Blog:
Johnny's plans for the immediate future include attending a festival showing of the documentary Pop Star on Ice.
"I'm going to the New York premiere," he told us, "and maybe L.A. or Provincetown."![]()
