Yeah The target is the 3rd episode they did and it was the first time everything gelled. We got a glimpse of the serial part of the show and an intro of all the characters. It was a better pilot then Ghost.

The second episode was much better then the first. It kept me interested so I will try episode 3.
Only problem for me was I didn't even remember the show was on. I found it by accident so hopefully I'll remember it is on.

I caught up on hulu.com this weekend. I keep forgetting it's on, on Fridays, and I know a lot of people don't watch TV on fridays, so I hope that it makes it. I love Joss Whedon's stuff and I like Eliza too.

Me too. I'm glad you guys keep posting to bump this thread up. It reminds me that I missed it on Friday and need to watch it on hulu.

I saw it. Kind of a letdown after last week's episode, but a decent episode. And who knew Eliza was such a good singer? When the two of them were singing together it was pretty amazing. How old is Eliza? I want her to try out for American Idol.

I didn't pay enough attention in the beginning to see that the (female) #1 fan was also a "Doll". Then later in the episode, I was waiting to see what freaky thing would happen that showed Echo is "coming to". It looked like one of the handlers was watching Echo and the other Doll as they passed each other and Echo shook her head "no". I know Echo would not have done that if she was being watched at that moment...think it was just bad filming/editing.

I haven't watched any of Dollhouse yet, but after I found out that Helo, err...Tahmoh Pennikett (

) was part of the cast I was intrigued.

Is it worth the hour each week? How does it compare to Fringe (which I think it a bit

Ugh, this episode was a hot mess. Decent plot idea but it's like they edited it by placing all the footage in a blender. Plus, some of the dialogue was insultingly awful. Not the usual Whedon camp-and-snap writing for sure.

That said, I am intrigued by the subplots. What we know (or think we know):

- Helo's informant is really a Doll named Victor, who seems to have an ongoing Active role with the Russian mob. So....is it the Dollhouse itself that has placed Victor on duty in order to screw with Mr FBI? Or did someone else hire him? I think it has to be the Dollhouse, because Victor should have a handler and the organization would know what is being communicated with Helo. Oh, and the lovelorn neighbor is creepy. There's got to be something more to her than we're seeing.

- Echo AND Sierra both appear to be more sentient than they are letting on. This is far more interesting than having just Echo wake up or whatever. Plus, they know that they shouldn't let on that they are aware during inactive times. How and when do they communicate?

- Ilyria is one of the most interesting parts of the show. She told Boyd that there is someone watching Echo - is she talking in generalities, or is there someone specific after that particular Active?

- The science guy is still a complete tool from tooltown. I really can't stand him.

Lots of potential for the show; unfortunately the weekly episode setup of having Echo sent on an assignment is by far the weakest part of the show. The creators have GOT to come up with better reasons she is sent on jobs. When "Biz" (Reyna's manager) scoffed that Reyna "hates security guys" and thus needed a protective backup singer I was

.... but 20 minutes later we see that Reyna in fact does have security guys crawling all around at her show

. And Echo dropped the aspiring backup singer part of her imprinted personality almost immediately. Last week's episode was good from the get-go because the premise of her assignment was far-fetched but plausible in a tv show kind of way. Unfortunately, any assignment that isn't sort of date or escort-related just feels really forced and fake (especially because putting Eliza Dushku in tight, sexy clothing seems to be a requirement of each episode). There would be fewer limits on the show if they would have set up the Dollhouse as a security company, or at least have a specialized security component.

I'll keep watching, as I hope the weak parts of the show will get retooled, but if the show disappeared at this point I wouldn't miss it.

I;ve never watched Fringe (sounds tedious to me), so I don't know how it compares.

I thought this episode was mostly

. Such clunky dialog... and BTW, this episode was written by Joss Whedon's brother and sister-in-law. I guess if he rewrote the episode or criticized them too much it would make for a very awkward Thanksgiving.

But seriously, that was a pretty crappy episode. And I've never liked how Eliza plays concerned/friendly. She just waves her arms a lot. I like her punching things better and although this one had a lot of that in it, it still didn't overcome the writing.

Topher is such a tool. He's all three of the Trio put together, but mostly just Warren with Andrew hair. /geek

No, he doesn't. Jonathan was a woobie and Andrew was so out of touch with reality you really couldn't blame him for anything. But Warren... I was glad that asshole got skinned! In that same vein I hope Topher's death is as interesting and gushy.

When they go into their sleeping chambers for the night, I assume the area is monitored, but not their specific spot. I wonder if these two have beds next to each other. They could communicate through morse code after the other dolls have fallen asleep without making too much noise. A possibility...

I don't QUITE loathe him, but if the Alpha doll returns and dices and slices science guy, I won't be sobbing about it here...

No. Sierra started to speak and Echo was warning her off. Sierra's handler doesn't like Echo but Sierra doesn't know that. Her programing isn't holding like it's supposed to and I'm not certain Sierra's is either. Clearly there are flaws in the programing since Alpha escaped and the Attic is where they send *defective* dolls.

I wonder about the neighbor across the hall. Is she a doll or just friendly? I wasn't really surprised that Russianboy turned out to be a doll. I'd thought the doll house was a secret governmen agency, but now I'm not so certain since they tried to have the cop killed.

According to ED, the show really changes with episode 6. They apparently reshot the pilot at Fox's insistence and the first 5 episodes were a set up. Episode 6-13 is supposed to be true Whedon. I think they realized the first 5 were less than stellar and are really doing a lot of promo for the later episodes.

I'm trying to figure out which Fox exec hates Whedon. They always try to screw with his shows or cancel them.

I am grateful for Buffy the movie, because without it I think there would have been NO BTVS series. Seven year series > 1 movie.
