I don't have the video. :) Just wanted to say I saw it in person and I really loved her program and her skating. For me, it was one of those programs that captures your full attention and stuns you into silence.
I don’t think ION is large enough to host Nationals. It seems smaller than Boston.
Hmm, I just looked up the seating capacity, ION has 5,500, while Boston only holds 2,500. Having been to both, I am surprised. ION feels a lot more cramped, maybe because Boston has so much more light…
I really don't understand why people think it's ok to pass meanness for wit at the expense of young teenage girls. The parents spend thousands of dollars to support their child's skating and do the best they can with costuming. She is a beautiful girl and a wonderful skater. Her dress was...
Yes, I watched in person and reviewed the protocols. As an example, Alex Evans skated much stronger than Lindsay Wang, but her score ended up the same (corrected).
Yes that's true. Not that it's fair, in my opinion. The judging at the Pacific sectionals compared to Easterns was completely different. Not even going into rotations, so many of these top-scoring skates looked quite labored, yet the scoring didn't reflect that.
That was crazy. She was just going preparation and changed her mind, then did 2 steps and took off into the lutz. Impressive that she was able to do the lutz from just 2 steps. IMO, they should have counted the last 2 jumping passes.
On the other hand, I thought the call on the 3S was...
(I am talking triples and primarily referencing the top girls competing at the junior level. )
My point is tacking on 2As is much easier to do than a +3T, so that's what these girls are opting for. The 1 point bonus doesn't offset the risk for them to put the +3T combos in the free program. And...
I agree that more difficult combos should be worth more. Doing +2A's seq is infinitely easier than +3T combos, so from the jump value perspective, I think the combo vs seq value needs to be revised.
I see fewer novices/juniors in the US going for the +3T combos, instead opting to tack on 2A's...
I wasn't seeking advice from you on where to direct my "ire". No ire here.
I disagreed with your comments about what you called "strategic thinking". Didn't think they were fair or "strategic". Sarah was 4th at Milwaukee and score-wise was pretty much tied with 3rd place. Why should she have...
So screwing Sarah not once, but twice (first, giving her the much later assignment and now suggesting that she gets assigned to the war zone competition that might not even happen) is perfectly acceptable and "strategic"... glad, that's not how they roll.
