I really want to know what #8 was on that list.

The longer I live, the more sure I am that everyone is some level of kinky, and that most people just won't admit it or are afraid of it. Which is a shame for them. :shuffle:

I don't think the above is true.

    I don't believe this either.

    This I agree with, LOL.

I know anecdotes don't always mean much, but from personal experience with a large number of friends and on various websites, etc., straight women definitely find romances between two men to be a huge turn-on. If they're willing to admit it, at least.

I'd like to know how they define 'heavy'. If they mean a size 6-10 as opposed to a 2, I can believe that. Guys seem to prefer actual curves and some meat on a woman's bones, again speaking anecdotally and based on other studies I've seen. If they mean BBW... I don't think I believe that.

M/M romance sales to women are booming--one of the hottest trends in digital publishing.

    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life...-want-gay-male-romance-novels/article1902774/

Hmm, well, I watched Real Sex on HBO long ago and one of the things I remember most distinctly from it was that BBW sex was one of the most popular porn genres.

Remember, they never said that straight men prefer heavy women in real life; the article was about what sort of sexual material straight men look for on the internet. Women are interested in submission and dominance on the internet, too, but that doesn't mean they necessarily want to actually experience it.

Most M/M slashfic is written by women.

BBW is quite popular, but not more popular than... everything else (excusing some things like the granny porn mentioned) which features skinny girls. They may search for BBW more often... but you don't have to search for the thin girls specifically. That's just the norm.

I guess I'm a deviant then because (a) I don't think I'm remotely kinky and (b) if I'm looking at porn, I want man on woman or woman on woman. In both cases, I can imagine I'm one (or both) of the women but I can't imagine anything with man on man porn. Plus, it grosses me out for some reason. (The same way thinking about my parents having sex grosses me out.)

I really don't care about the gender, to be honest. I need it to seem real and have good sound. I'm aurally fixated ;)

I don't trust non-kinky people. Vanilla is for ice cream only! :D

I do. Sometimes when I see really thin women on TV, I think that straight men wouldn’t want to have sex with someone like that for fear that they might break her!

I'd guess pedophila. Or beastiality. Or pedophilic beastiality. (The yuckiness of both has probably affected my spelling. I'm kinky...but not THAT kinky!)

I know tons of straight women who think man on man action is a big turn on. They admit to seeking out gay porn when they want to look at porn. They probably are more free to admit this to a gay guy than their other straight friends.

If people aren't at least a little kinky, they're limiting their options in the bedroom IMO. It takes a lot to not get into a routine when it comes to that...and having more options definitely helps.

But Real Sex was referencing DVD sales, not internet searches.

That's me. And I admit it to anyone and everyone. I prefer men on men. Not the romance, emotion stuff, that always seems silly to me. Just the straight to the point, good old fashioned men only action.

And I am a straight woman. Maybe I am a gay man trapped in a straight woman's body? :D

As a gay man, I don't like gay porn. I only watch straight porn...:shuffle: Maybe I'm a straight man trapped in a gay mans body. Also, my 51 year old sister reads m/m romance novels and wants to tell me about them all the time, which makes me :yikes::scream:

And so badly written at times as to be unreadable. At least most of the online stuff I've read.

Hm. I wonder . . . if everyone put images of themselves having sex online, how many of their offspring would search for it and how many would :scream:

Ah, I missed this, sorry! Not sure how. Thanks for clarifying.

People still buy DVDs, though? ...Why?

    Allow me to repeat:

Specifically, the broadcast was from 2009, so a couple of years ago, anyway.

But that would be two separate sources verifying that a lot of straight men like BBW porn. That does not necessarily mean that they like BBWs themselves.

There is a doctoral dissertation in there for some intrepid grad student. Why do so many straight women find man on man action compelling? Do they fantasize about being between the two guys who are going at it?

Interesting. Rex, can you usually tell M/M slashfic that is written by a woman from that written by a gay man? I've often noticed that white authors often get details wrong when they create African-American characters. Does something similar happen when straight writers create gay characters?

Actually, Civic, I cannot tell; most of what I've read, str8 woman or gay man and everyone in between, is just bad stuff. I read one slash fanfic on Law & Order: SVU where Stabler and Huang fell in love and it was just awful, awful stuff.

Well, there's been a lot of academic work on slash fiction in media fandom within the field of cultural studies, e.g., http://web.mit.edu/cms/People/henry3/bonking.html

I'm not so sure about studies of women consuming images intended as gay porn, or studies in the fields of psychology/sexology etc.

    There's this: http://content.libida.com/gay-porn-and-women-who-love-it
But I can't find a link to the actual study

 What is it about SVU? I've heard there is a large fanfic base of Benson/Cabot shippers.

Oh yeah, Benson/Cabot has always been huge. There were so many shippers even the writers knew about it and would throw in little fanservice scenes. I used to remember what episodes they were in but I was a fan like 6 years ago.

And I wasn't even a shipper, I just couldn't avoid hearing about it

Stabler and Huang together?:yikes: That is just so wrong on so many levels. Among other things, while Huang respects Stabler as a colleague, he doesn't like him as a person. The show's writers have made it very clear that Stabler's anger issues, pig-headedness and tendency to bully people anger Huang. A fan/fic writer would have to disregard the two characters' interactions with one another in the SVU canon in order to invent this romance.

Only up to the point of penetration :slinkaway

The story dealt with Stabler denying, then admitting to a shrink, his romantic feelings toward Huang, despite their dynamic differences. It was ill-conceived to me; maybe because it's my favorite show and the characters are so ingrained in my head a certain way; to perceive them as different as they are already written is not easy...

And yes, I've read the Benson/Cabot pairings. For some reason, they seem more believable than Stabler and Huang.

I'd much rather it be Stabler and Rex....

M/M is so hot. :swoon: I freely admit it! I just love seeing guys cuddle, and if it's two guys cuddling, it's twice as nice!

Gay porn also has :grope: guys, whereas straight porn has :scream: guys!

Ooh, I would ship that.

I think it's the boobs. That's probably also why pregnant women porn is also popular.

I think that's true of most fan fiction, slash or otherwise. (Though I've never read slash so I have no idea if it's much worse overall.)

You don't read much fan fic, do you? ;)
