I was watching an old clip from the Ladies free skate at worlds from 1992, and Dick Button referred to Kristi Yamaguchi as "Too legit to Quit" interms of going pro:confused:

If I can add a few more -

    - 6 North American Championships (North Americans are no longer held).
    - Won all these titles and educational accomplishments in an era when they took the boat to Europe to compete.
    - Of all his competitions, his didn't win his very first one (his first teacher advised him to quit as he didn't have any talent). He finished 2nd in his first World Championships. Every other competition he ever entered - He Won !

One of my favorites - in reference to John Nicks? (maybe Frank Carroll) - "The old goat."

No - it was "old goat". He directed it at Frank Carroll after Kwan skated a great program and Frank was putting his poker face on and trying not to look overly pleased. I forget which competition it was.

I want to say that Button called Nicks a "sly old fox" during the 2005 US Nats broadcast, but I can't find the clip just yet.

Dick and Peggy were talking about the days when international skating championships were held outdoors.

Peggy: "I competed at the last."

Dick: "I competed at the first."

I know I'm not quoting it correctly, but in response to a failed element:

"Whatever that was supposed to be, it wasn't."

To all Dick's fans, his tribute from 2010 Caesars:

What an incredible legend and icon of the sport. Some of these pictures I've never seen before, but he has earned the right to obsess about good positions and flexibility. His split jumps!!!
