NO!!! So sad.
You've got to be kidding me!!!! Dang, I liked that couple.
in a million depressions now
The curse of winning the US pairs title continues...
Terrible news!!! Nat'l Champs and 6th in World! From my previous posts in another thread, my intuition so far is on track----I am expecting the announcement of John pairing with Caydee Denney!! Then I will go buy a lottery ticket
I am sorry but this doesn't make any sense to me at all... Why??
WTF?! They were the only American pair that I liked
I'm on my phone so I can't open the article - but do they give any reasons? I don't understand why they would split after such a great year
just as they were gaining momentum! and the splits begin... loved their free skate this year! it was wonderful =(
That's too bad. I really, really enjoyed them. Weren't they on the rise?
I'm really sad about this. The best pairs team the US has had in ages, and they're both such nice people. I'm glad they had this emotional season together, and wish them all the best in the future, but I"m sad we'll miss seeing how they could have developed together.
Wow! didn't see that coming, they had a great World's. I really liked them
This is so sad. I really enjoyed this team.
What is up with US Pairs skaters? They get a year or two of success and then bail. Will we ever see another US pair on the Worlds Podium?
I would not be surprised if John moves on to coaching...
WHAT????? That makes NO sense at all!! We had only JUST started seeing how good they could become.
I really liked this pair.
Holy crap! What?!?!? Why?!?!?! :
Completely unexpected after finishing 6th at freaking worlds!
This right here just tells me that there's no reason whatsoever to get invested in American pairs. Even when they do well, they split. I'm freaking done!
And so it begins....too bad I really liked them
Why on earth??
From the article, it sounds as if it may have been his decision. But what a strange decision to make NOW, after such a successful season!
I also really like them...
John retired and she will search for a new partner.
I'm sorry to hear that; they were doing so well!
The article says she's planning to find a new partner - I wonder how the heights would work with Bryce Davison?
I remember reading that discussion about John and Caydee and thinking that it doesn't make any sense. It's probably true now, let's wait and see..
I hope it's no true, I don't think Caydee is as good as Yankowskas.
If it does turn out true, John is highly stupid.
I just don't get this one at all...
When I first saw this, I thought it was a late April Fool's joke.
It sounds like John may be ready to hang up his skates. He's been through a lot the past year or two. Whatever happens, I wish both of them the best.
I don't see John with Caydee. I wonder if Caitlin will re-team with Daniyel Cohen.
I wonder if Rockne is kicking himself for not waiting a little longer to find a partner. not that I think Caitlyn would be a great fit for him, but he wouldn't look like her dad.
ITA. This would be a very strange decision if true.
Only I didn't say fudge...
They were the first US pair I liked in AGES!
I wish we'd get an update on Bryce. It'd be nice to know if it's actually possible for him to come back to skating on a high level.
But she is relatively short with 5 feet 2, so that would work well. (I thought she was a lot taller, she skates really tall!)
My mother does not get Universal Sports. This conversation occurred regarding worlds:
Me: Y/C got sixth place.
Mom: That is amazing for one of our pair teams! Wow!
Me: Isn't it? Maybe they can move up from there.
Mom: If they actually stay together. They probably won't. U.S. pair teams don't.
She called it.
That was my first thought too, right after
If this is true, it is the only possible scenario that makes any sense at all. (or if she wanted to retire). After all, if you don't want to train and compete anymore, then you don't, no matter how great a season you've had or how promising you are.
If they were just splitting and both continuing to skate pairs, this would be very difficult to believe. Unless they simply have "unreconcilable differences" as a pair.
Too bad, though. Their future looked very bright.
That would be awesome if he could continue his skating (with somone like her)
Both her and Dube are 5'2"
No! Just crazy.
I'm Utterly at a loss for words!
Separate names with a comma.
