    I agree.

Next thing you know everyone will have to skate to music like the Shibs had last year or they'll get the deduction.

    Such a stupid rule.

I really hope that's not true. What are they going to do, scrap the whole thing and start over?

I don't know if it would make a difference, but after watching the program a few times, I think it would benefit from having the first half and the second half switched around.

Did you guys realize this? I didn't:

Maybe Nelli and Alexander didn't complete their fill in the blanks test for the FD?

I can't believe the ISU is getting this rinky dink, and I hope this is only true in juniors.

This is the Ice Dance music form and it has been around for a while. The ice dancers need to include the rhythms they use for the short dance and the short description of the free dance is needed for putting it on to the scoreboard (hence the maximum of 30 characters). I don't think that you get penalized when you don't fill into the form.

ISU better change this rule fast before some very serious PR backlash.

 Doesn't some of this go w/o saying? Are there dance teams that don't want to be interesting?

4th place finish for koch/nüchtern, great result!

    hedwig & dytrt :)

yes, she could have had a great career, but i thought, that the german fedaration supported her until 2010 (and even there is a great doubt about the support in the olympic season and a lot of misunderstandings in qualification rules); i think after the olympics, the germans said all their eyes on sarah hecken, who indeed delivered nice programs, but couldn´t match dytrt in pcs by far.
all could have changed if hecken managed to get a second spot at euros, so they could have fight for the worlds spot there; but without that second spot, dytrt know in my opinion, that there will be no future for her.
we saw the egrman federation acting with its favourites (f.e. zhiganshina/gaszi vs. hermann/hermann)

Hi- waves - yes, I think you are right about the support from the German fed. They were fed up with her (sorry for the pun ;) ). A pity. Sarah Hecken is a huge talent but she has yet to wow me with her programs...

And don't remind me about the Z/G situation. I am still  about that.

If there's any justice in the world (well, there's none but one can hope), Nelli will get German citizenship before Sochi.

Can't they get married to speed up the process? Pretty please?

If she doesn't, even I will offer to marry her to speed up the process just to rub in to the German Fed how stupid they were (and to let them compete of course :) )

She changed clubs to Oberstdorf last season and now represents Bavaria nationally. I think this was a very smart move. I have a feeling in the immigration office in Bavaria seems to be less painful than the one in Berlin.

She can apply for German citizenship after three years of marriage. Previously it was always like that.

    Thanks.
Sadly both videos are blocked on German youtube. :wall: I hate the music regulations rules in this country. :(

The translation for the FP is "Pina - dance, dance, otherwise we are lost" Probably film music from the movie about Pina Bausch. ?

Thanks, la.louise. Both programmes look very promising. I do wish they would change the SP costumes. I do love them occasionally going OTT -especially when they're doing fun programmes but here their costumes simply don't fit in.

Hedwig, you might want to try watching it via hidemyass.com

mazzy, thanks a lot for the tip!! :)

Really love the short - such a suspense they can create! :swoon:
Still hate Aljona's leg position in the death spiral though.
But the way they go from dreamy to fierce is just unmatched IMO.

Obviously the elements were toned down (only throw 2axel for instance) but what I found interesting is that there were lots of little lifts in the programme. Must be tiring.

Throw double axel might turn into 3A?!?! Oooooh! Can't wait for this season for them.

I was wondering the same thing. But is it worth the risk? Their throw triple flip is amazing and got a lot of +3 last season. I would love to see it though.

I don't think so. They usually do a 2A throw in exhibitions.

I love how effortlessly S/S skate. And I love how they are constantly trying to do new things and make new challenges. Their costumes sometimes leave much to be desired but they really have the best programs. All I have to say is while I love V/T, Nikolai that's how you do edgy/modern.

Beautiful skating from S/S!! I won't comment on the costume. :p

I usually hate the pairs step sequences in the SP, but I love how theirs actually relates to the music! :cheer2:

Thanks. I was waiting very much for their new programs. Although mazzy is right about the costumes (most likely they will change, though), the programs look much better and more promising than those by Volosozhar/Trankov. If they keep up the level of the last season, they will probably become world champions for the fourth time (of course, we can never count Pang/Tong and even Volosozhar/Trankov out).

Finally got to watch S/S's SP! Not that it'll surprise anyone, but I loved it :swoon: They are such innovators. I love how they use the music; the program really builds. The only true artists in pairs these days. I love V/T but they have a long way to go before they can match S/S's artistry. Total legends, IMO.

Difficult, very short entry into the 3toes.

Very interesting dance lift dismount straight into pair spin.

Interesting step sequence (although it goes a bit too long).

The rest is very decent but nothing outstanding.

They skate to the music very well though (I also love how the program builds up) and both their basic skating and the program is infinitely better than V/T's "Bring Me to Life" nightmare (although the judges will probably disagree :/).

They deserve 10s all round for skating to the "Pina" soundtrack. :)

The contemporary dance inspired choreography seems very sophisticated, especially in the context of the usual FS shit.

I haven't been this excited about a program ever.

I have huge hopes and I hope that with more mileage the programs will look amazing.

I'm so excited! And I just can't hide it! :cheer:

I know I'm such an uber, but the FP looks amazing :swoon: So smooth and modern! It could be my favorite LP from them, though I say that every year.

    Many thanks for the links!

The SP program has barely started, and boom!, there's the throw out of nowhere. I loved the lift: fast entry, nice transition into the position change and direction change and, especially the dismount.

As a modern dancer I have to say I absolutely love the LP modern choreo :respec: This could become one of my favorite lp ever.

The step sequence in the short is great and relates to the music perfectly,
also love the lift and the dismount. I don't mind the costumes, but I think
the costumes for the lp will change.

Pity I can't watch the videos since they are blocked in Germany :( Do you know if there are any other links? I've already searched fsvids, but couldn't find anything

They skated this extremely well - as they always do - but I don't see much innovation in the choreography. I know they usually do the double axle in exhibition so I don't know if they will do it in the program. I doubt it since it won't get them many points and their triple flip is huge. I would rather see it at SA since I'm not a fan of seeing programs for the first time under spotlights. I do love their costumes.

I love the fact that they are skating to the music and got the choreography inspiration from the movie and soundtrack from Pina. (I can't wait to see the movie!) I als can't wait to see the final version. The start of the Grand Prix can't come soon enough.
