Going to my widespread source for everything again...........

Why can't I look up a simple telephone number online? You have to log in to the White Pages site, but then you have to go to People Finders and log in there and it's probably got some kind of a fee. So did numbers.com or something like that.

My cousin died suddenly (at home, alone) and I wanted to call his sister in Phoenix. I don't want to know how much their house cost (which is free!!!!) or check their criminal background. I just want to find their FREAKING phone number. (I have the address.) It's the White Pages, for God's sake. The FREE phone book??????????????????

    Any ideas????????

    Thanks.

You should be able to look up the phone number just by Googling the name and city. The White Pages is a commercial site that is not the same as the white pages in your telephone book.

If you can't find the phone number with the name (and you won't if the number is unlisted), my suggestion is that you try Zabasearch: http://www.zabasearch.com/

Don't use the tabs at the top of the search; look your cousin up by name and state. Zaba will often produce even unlisted numbers.

If that doesn't work, post again and I will give you some other options.

I tried the anywho. These places sent me to "sponsored" sites - one was People Finder and you had to sign up to get "more information". When I put in just the name and city, I get links to white pages and have to go through the same thing over again.

    I'll try the zaba one..................

5 minutes later...........Well, maybe the number is unlisted. I still get the "phone number at People Finders" thing. Hm. I couldn't even get my own information though. And my number is not unlisted. Just love this technological "progress".

I have not used it in a while, but www.switchboard.com has worked for me for free in the past.

Tried it. It gives me two of one person, three of another person (with same name) with addresses and phone numbers, then "others" at the bottom that you have to pay Intelius to get their phone number.

    I quit........................

If you are getting that on Zaba, you must be clicking on the link for a background check or More Info.

You can PM me the name and location, and I will try to track it down. I won't do anything with the information.

Thanks bunches and bunches, but I think they must just have an unlisted number. Any site I click on "phone number", it takes me to a "sponsored" site (all of them do that to various "pay" sites). I think she gave my aunt in Columbus (who's been busy with church things all weekend <Lent) their number when she called her Saturday afternoon, but it was getting to be a mission to try to find it myself and figure out why I couldn't just look it up in the White Pages like I used to. Heck, maybe they only have cell phones. I'll just fly out to Phoenix (ha) to pay my respects. There's a map of their house and how much they paid for it, and their ages. I saw one that had where people went to school (the main page). And people "related" to the person youi are looking up (which in my case has my ex-husband and his adult kids who I have not seen or spoken to in 20 years). BUT NO PHONE NUMBERS!!!!!!!!!!!! Good Grief. I guess you can rob and harass people as long as you don't call them. :p
