Canadian coverage will be on CTV. The station is running funny advertisements with Tracey Ullman and is spending serious $$$ in the lead-up to the wedding. They have 18 people on their "Royal Team".

And Thank God for that!! I can't stand the majority of the ETalk crew and it sounds like they're pretty much in charge of the CTV coverage. No way am I sitting through that!!

Much better news! I thought I was going to have to watch it on mute until the music was playing. (I sat through an entire second helping of his parents' wedding just to hear Kiri Te Kanawa sing "Let the Bright Seraphim" again.)

Last night I was listening to the new Adele CD (fabulous) and when I heard Love Song, I thought how perfect it would sound in Westminster Abbey ...

The schedule for the wedding has been posted -- I gather some of the guests will have to be there hours and hours early. Why would they allow an hour between William's arrival and Kate's arrival?

The bride arrives after the groom is "in place".
Their schedules always allow for any unanticipated delays/glitches.

ROTFLOL!! Didn't know they did the Conga at British Royal Weddings. My favourite though was...

    :D

In other news today...The Royal Canadian Mint unveiled their Royal Wedding coins and they far outshine the British one.

I dunno.... the drawing is awesome, but if you look at the actual coin, it looks nothing like the drawing, and not in a good way.

That's not tacky, it's cute. If you want to sound like a pretentious Euro though, you can call it a purse. ;)

Ted Baker also bring out a different umbrella this year. Mr. allezfred got this one.

It is ALWAYS about the Corgis! (I have a BHT Pembroke who would completely concur, too.)

Sarah Ferguson did the same at the beginning of her wedding ceremony.
It's a tradition, signifying that she is a commoner; marrying into the Royal Family.
SF changed her headpiece and was wearing the Tiara when the ceremony ended.

Perhaps Kate will do this, also.

Am I correct in assuming that Buckingham Palace, and not the Middleton family, is footing the bill for this wedding? If that's the case, then I would go all out if I were Kate. Why settle for a 'middle class' buffet if you're marrying into the British royal family? Why wear flowers in your hair if you can borrow a real diamond tiara?

I'm taking it with a grain of salt. It is coming from the Daily Mail after all.

But pretending the article is legit, this would be what I think:

I would imagine it's all about image. That they're making attempts to appear normal, and maybe cut some costs. It doesn't work as well though when the host is one of the richest people in the entire world. Or maybe that's what they wanted.

As for her wearing flowers in her hair instead of a tiara, well, to each their own. But if it were me marrying that high up in the British royal family, I would feel it was my duty to wear a tiara on my wedding day, tough though it may be.

I'm wondering if she's going Sarah Ferguson's route there, myself. As she IS a commoner until she says "I do" the tiara is a bit OTT. Do the ceremony, sign the book, swap the flowers and veil for some bling once she's officially a member of the Royal Family.

And while I doubt "middle-class buffet" means the same thing when coming out of Buckingham Palace's kitchen as it does when you're having your reception in the basement of the VFW Hall, I can see why given the state of the world economy they wouldn't have a huge 'do' with all the trimmings. Looks a little Versailles pre-Bastille-Day, or the Tsar and his family on vacation while World War I is on.

I think they really do want to live a simpler life (and have a simpler wedding) than most of their station. Haven't they said they're eschewing household help? They may be a bit naive about exactly how they're going to be able to live their early married life but it's refreshing, IMO.

I think it would work better now than trying to do it later! If they're going to live out in the country and provided they don't skimp on the security staff, I think Kate in particular is probably not going to have a nervous breakdown if she has to do her own laundry. A bigger issue would be, I'd think, trying to keep the photographers the heck away. So maybe pass on having a valet and a maid, but keep the security detail?

And they can enjoy it now because sooner or later, they'll need to face that Buck House cannot be run without help from a staff....
