I suspect everyone has many go-to songs to help lighten the load.

I thought of this because I just heard Petula Clark's Downtown and felt happier.

What songs improve your mood? :)

Josh Groban's You Raise Me Up and Great Big Sea's Ordinary Day. Two of my very favourite songs.

I love Petula Clark's Downtown (and so many other of her songs)!

Lionel Richie's Dancing on the Ceiling
Bryan Adams - Summer of '69, Run to You, There Will Never Be another Tonight
Huey Lewis & the News - Do You Believe in Love?
The cast recording of Spamalot - esp. for Always Look on the Bright Side of Life
The Beatles - Yellow Submarine, Here Comes the Sun
    The Association - Windy

Never! Who can resist "Oh, chitty, you chitty, pretty chitty bang bang" and "our fine four-fendered friend"?

Besides, my nominees would be "Sugar, Sugar," "I'm a Believer" and "Hot, Hot, Hot." :shuffle:

How you FEELIN'? Hot, hot hot!

Any of my favourite dancing songs -- too many to list, but "Walking on Sunshine," "Come Dancing," and "Footloose" are at the top.

But listening to blues can do the trick too. That was part of the point of the blues in the first place -- hearing other peoples problems makes you feel better about your own.

Or pretty much just listening to any good song, period. This morning "Both Sides Now" (the original) came on the radio because it's Joni Mitchell's 69th birthday, starting just as I pulled in to the office garage. I was a few minutes late for work because I had to stay in the car and listen. (Good excuse, right?)

Or playing just about any music will do it too. I'm feeling a little big headachy and a lot tired ... but I know all that will change as soon as band practice starts tonight. :)

YES! ABBA is my guilty pleasure that I feel absolutely no guilt over loving (if that makes sense).

I'd also add 'Always Look on the Bright Side of Life' from the Monty Python Movie 'Life of Brian'.

Hey, Bulldog by The Beatles is my go-to. Blasted loud through headphones is best for mood-lifting effectiveness.

Also, not a song, but listening to episodes of Cabin Pressure is great for lifting the spirits. It's hard not to smile.

Anything by the Spice Girls... except for Viva Forever. Which is, incidentally, my favorite song of theirs, but I wouldn't say it's a song that makes me instantly happy. 'Never Give Up On The Good Times' is probably my favorite songs of theirs for instant mood elevation :)

    I have odd ones.

    The theme from JAG
"The Green Machine" - the team song of my mighty rugby league team <3
    Poker Face - Lady Gaga
Don't Give Up - Green River Ordinance
Then You Look At Me - Celine Dion
Father and Son - Cat Steves/prefer the Boyzone cover
The Way You Love Me - Boyzone
    Can't Stop Falling In Love - A*teens

Lee Kernaghan's Outback Club, Hat Town, Country Comes to Town, She's My Ute, and a couple others.

It depends on what you mean by "elevate your mood"

If I'm looking for something happy and mellow, it's Corin Baily Ray "Go Put Your Records On"

If I'm looking for something to get me pumped up and energized, "Eye of the Tiger", "Pump Up the Jam"

If I'm looking to feel a little naughty, "Pour some sugar on me"

    Silly fun "Love Shack"

Driving in the car at night "Something In the Air Tonight" and "Boys of Summer"

To get me happy and energetic, almost anything fast, catchy and danceable will work, but nothing de-stresses me like East of Eden. I think I'd love it even without the Kween association, but the association certainly doesn't hurt.
