I agree the songs were not my favorite. Her voice though.....:swoon: I could have listened to her sing the freakin phone book. I liked her I believe in You and Me.

It's a shame really because her voice was totally amazing.

I do have to admit that I kinda do like "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" as a light-hearted party song.

An hour ago or so, my flatmates put it on very loud and as we were dancing to it:

Female flatmate: Whitney died and we're dancing...
Male flatmate:THAT'S WHAT SHE WOULD HAVE WANTED!!! :D

"My Love Is Your Love" is sorta special to me and the better-half, for mushy & nostalgic romantic reasons.........

Looking back now I think that she could have produced 20 more albums with so much variety. IMO because of her background and roots in gospel her handlers got her stuck with pop-ballads and yes she did try to add more uptempo even some disco to her repertoire but I think with her vast talent she could have done so much more.

I was fan of her voice but not so much her earlier music.

    My favorites of Whitney are:

I Believe in You and Me

    Heartbreak Hotel

    I'm Your Baby Tonight

Count On Me w/CeCe Winans(who in her own right, CeCe has one of the greatest voices ever)

    All At Once

And of course, The Star Spangled Banner. Her version is the greatest of all time and when I hear it makes me proud to be an American.

I could listen to her up-tempo / dancy songs all day long. Favorites are:
    1. How Will I Know
    2. So Emotional
    3. It's Not Right but It's Okay (Dance version)

Then there are the special occasion songs that I listen to rarely, but are always an "experience" when I do.
    1. One Moment in Time
    2. Greatest Love of All
    3. I Will Always Love You

I didn't like her up-tempo songs as much as I liked her more serious songs.

    I loved:

    1.I will always love you
    2.one moment iin time
    3. greatest love of all
    4. run to you
    5. all at once
and I liked that duet she did with, oh geez, i forget... off to find it...

found it: Enrique Iglesias... Can i have this kiss forever or whatever it was called...

"Miracle". I was thinking it was an album cut and not a single, but I checked wikipedia and it hit #9 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1991. Best Whitney song ever. Probably not to be watched if you're feeling sad though (unless you have lots of hankies).

    Whitney Houston - Miracle

    I have a few runners-up as well....

    2. Love Will Save The Day

    6. Queen Of The Night
    7. Exhale (Shoop Shoop)
    8. It Isn't, It Wasn't, It Ain't Never Gonna Be (with Aretha Franklin)
    9. You Give Good Love
    10. How Will I Know
    11. My Name Is Not Susan
    12. If I Told You That (with George Michael)
    13. I Belong To You
    14. Anymore
    15. For The Love Of You
    16. All The Man I Need
    17. I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)

As someone who generally shuns mainstream, especially pop/R&B ballad-y stuff, I've never been a fan of Whitney's biggest hits.

I will fully admit, however, to having (and dancing my ass off many a night at the gay bars in Atlanta) the Thunderpuss Remix of It's Not Right (But It's Okay) and the Clivilles & Coles House Mix II of I'm Every Woman

Funny...I have an extensive music collection, but I don't have ONE Whitney Houston CD! But my favorite WH song is "I'm Your Baby Tonight" (which is also my favorite WH video).

Ahhh "How Will I Know" is really lovely too in a similar vein to "I Wanna Dance With Somebody."

So there's those two, back in her heyday before she became a total trainwreck. :/
