I totally disagree with the last comment. The look complements the music very well, IMO, in that it suits the era of the music. I think it's an attractive look for her.

I'l bet this is not the dress, though the colour is very nice on her..I think there'll be a few more stylistic nods to the era..

A little later...Anyone seen Maria de Buenos Aires yet ?

GORGEOUS free dance. I'm so pleased with their score. I hope they can maintain that and go higher. They deserve it.

Can't wait to see Kaitlyn and Andrew's free dance. 99.38 is a fantastic score for the beginning of the season, considering Je Suis Malade got 100.18 at its peak at the end of the 2012 season.

Their technical levels were great (everything level 4 except the 2 step sequences which got a 3), but that's typical of what the top teams get. Lots of +2's and nothing lower than a +1 on any element. Looks like the FD is off to a terrific start! :)

Frisette70, I somehow gave you negative rep for the SD link, when I intended to give positive rep. I guess my cursor must have been in the wrong place on the page. I'm checking with the moderators to see if that can be changed. In the meantime, I'm sorry for the red blob.

That was sexy as hell. I LOVE their new FD. It's so sinewy and confident.

I loved loved loved it. They showed some interesting positions and looked to be very fast. I can't wait to see this at Nats. Thanks for posting frisette.

Like her hair, not the costume. I guess this is not her real costume.

I think the circular step sequence in their FD is fantastic. I like how they're not just performing the turns, but they're also accentuating their free leg movement throughout in order to add tango feeling and expression. The end of the sequence is great where they go from moving across the ice, to Kaitlyn becoming stationary in the lunge position, and then both she and Andrew drop in perfect time to what the music is doing. Love it!

It certainly is steamier than a certain tango from about 3 yrs ago done by a top team. I like what they did with this.

I liked how well trained and speedy they looked for so early in the season. Though I wish she'd change her dress, something more in line with what Marie France wore early in the 2006/7 season for the OD (the white dress).

I SO wanted to see whta they would do this year...I LOVED their last 2 free dances.....watched them SO many times....this new one is meh for me :(
Maybe it will grow on me.....I am just missing the 'spark' that last two years had both so emotional and drew me in

Me too. I like that it is not necessarily a traditional tango, but an interpretation. It promises to be dynamic and intense. Good luck to W/P! :kickass:

Just got the chance to watch it and I have to agree that I don't "love" it either. I really want to think it's fantastic because I like the concept and most of the choreography, but the music is just...well...can't quite figure it out. I'm hoping it will grow on me over the season because I want them to do well with it.

TSN aired a nice little fluff on W/P in between the pairs and ladies' comp. It focussed on their SD inspiration. Apparently they both love old musicals, and when Kaitlyn was injured last season, she watched 42nd Street a lot, and they thought this was a great piece of music for this year. They likened Kaitlyn's journey in coming to Canada to skate with Andrew to the story in the movie. They took tap lessons to help attain authentic characterization.

Awesome score for Kaitlyn and Andrew! :cheer:

It's the first time in their careers to break 70 points in the SD and we are only at the beginning of the season!
