Apologies - don't worry about it. The issue came up about 18 months ago in another thread. Hope admin can clarify.

    Thanks for the info.

Loved seeing Hallejuah live. So much better than watching on TV.

I'll be on the lookout for a cut cheek when I watch the gala on TSN next week ;)

It is odd that they showed Scott and Tessa and seeing how they were the only discipline that hadn't finished competition, I doubt any ice dancers were involved.

Maybe Nam Nguyen beat up one of those pairs men. You can never be too sure about those little guys. They can be feisty. ;)

Home after an exciting day. Now re-living it via TV recordings.

Lost my internet connection at the rink just before the competition began. I am beginning to think they may shut down the service to avoid risk of people secretly streaming the event, or because it may interfere with the wireless TV cameras and/or other wireless services (like the SSID wireless I once saw called "judges upload"). Hmmmm, does anyone need a few scores changed?

The Choreo lift was better than what I saw at practices. There, I could not clearly see Tessa's legs around Scott (they were at the opposite end of the rink, with Scott's back to me, and other skaters moving across my view). I wasn't sure how the lift would fit into the story, but now it makes more sense.

I love how Tessa and Scott set up Carmen. She's very feral.

I won't deny preferring the previous choreo-lift - very much in tune with the FD's portrait of power dynamics - but this one obviously flows better. Would've been fascinating to see this one on the backhalf of the opening curve lift, though.

The twizzles just happen with so little preparation it's rather astonishing.

Has Scott always covered his face with the final pose? Because it's one of those remarkable details (as if he can't believe Carmen has brought him so low and is ashamed) that just make this dance (like Scott holding his heart during the circ steps sequence). Also everything else going on, but seriously, this choreography is so layered and nuanced.

Finally watched the FD. Holy smokes they were hot hot hot hot hot! Love the new choreo lift, it really continues the excitement and climax of their previous lift right to the end pose which was what lacked a little during their previous outings. The whole dance's flow was really well and streamlined, and have I mentioned that it's hot hot hot hot hot!!!?

Carmen is such a departure from their previous programs I am not sure how their Olympic FD is going to top it O_O...

Thank you all for reviews and videos! I am happy you enjoy this FD "live" and could see best skating during this season.
They gave even more sex now. And i think now all elements work with with music really well.
Still need to compare spin from GPF and Nationals.
In protoclos from all events from this season it was - Sp (because they didnt change there foots). So for this spin ints 2 rotations in the same positions is enough. But in protoclos from Nationals its CoSp (its when couple change there feet during spin) so in CoSp they need to do full 3 rotations in every position. So what is truth? Did they change spin after GPF? I didnt see this.

Good catch. I just looked the once and don't see any difference between the spins but yes, in all their other events it was called SP4 and here CoSP1. I don't see any change of foot in the spin at Nationals.

That's what I´m wondering as well. Same spin yet only here it was called a CoSp. Adding that to the mistake with the choreography lift where most teams got a time deduction because whoever did the timing was using the wrong time limit. Makes you wonder how much experience some of the panel had. I know they have to pass tests and are not stupid but inexperience can lead to mistakes or they mistook the swinging of their legs as a change of foot because most teams are doing a CoSp? Too bad Marina didn't challenge it like Alaine Chartrands coach so we could know for certain.

This was Marie Bowness at technical pannel. She is well known tech specialist and worked at least at WChs (i am sure in 2010 and 2012). And she was Tec cpecialist at GPF, where they gace T-S Sp4. And Rock Lemay was at GP.

Well those are certainly experienced people. Would be really interesting to know the reason behind the different spin call.

When I watched practice of the FD earlier in the day, I saw yet another "little" piece of choreography that I hadn't seen before for whatever reason. Just before Tessa's hand is on Scott's chest and she pushes him away, she runs that same hand up his thigh. It begins with her hand on his thigh with fingers facing downward, then she runs her hand up the thigh, up his lower chest and then as she's getting to the final position, she rotates her hand so now the fingers are pointing up. It's like she is caressing him. Once it's in that position, she then "haughtily" pushes him away. Man, this FD has soooooooooooo many little details, I wonder if I'll ever notice them all. It just adds to the hotness that is "black Carmen" as I call it :D

There are so many nuances, subtle gestures and movements, glances, interpretation, feeling, and accents impecably timed to the music that makes this a masterpiece to be watched over and over. I am not an uber VM fan, usually preferring DW, but this dance together with the SD, takes them to a completely different level that, IMO, no one else can compete with. Consider me a fan!!!!!!

Just caught up latest evolution of Carmen on youtube... *faint* *swoon*!
Someone need to retitle this thread to

We Like it Hot... so scorching HOT my pants is on fire!!

This better WIN in fake London, or else I must launch a
:mitchell: right outside the ISU HQ against the tyranny against the arts that is the current COP system and to enforce a rule that ALL judges MUST earn at least a level 3 in art and music critique and analysis, and this should be an extra new category to the PCS makeup.

I once sat on the front row VIP seating at the (real one) London O2's epic staging of Bizet's Carmen to a crowd of 15,000 with a cast of over 200s. I would happily give up those 3 amazing quality hours to exchange for the 4mins30s to be in the presence of these 2 live at London WC, to be able to to experience this heart pounding slice of skating heaven standing from the last rows just to be there! I expect this FS will send electricity around the arena on the day and rightly so.

Good luck Tessa and Scott, I am continued to be impressed and amazed at your demonstration of love, passion, care and attention to every aspect of your program to really craft for the best Carmen possible with respect to the system and despite of it; which is a total bonus for the fans, since we we can have different Carmen to compare to. I expect by the worlds, it will be the best version yet and be completely deserving the long standing ovations (and a few teary eyes and melting hearts no doubt) !!

For me, the little bitty change/addition in choreography that I'm rewinding the most is start of the third section, just before the madness begins. From the face caress to end the final tender moments between Carmen and Don Jose, to the little change in the next sequence where in Carmen looks like giving Done Jose a karate chop and Don Jose was ducking it. It looks like they were really having a big fight. Even Tracy paused when they were replaying this sequence.

The thing I picked up most from the K&C is how pleased they were with their skate. They are feeling it and it shows in the skating. For me I felt the same excitement I felt the first time I watched it. They are getting more comfortable with the elements and the emotion and story is coming through.

That's one of the easy things about being a fan of V&M for me. You may not always be sure of a program theme and they may stumble along the way but I always have faith they will build on the programs throughout the season and bring something special to Worlds. It's what sets them apart from the others.

Hell on nerves though during GPF, but hats off to them for sticking to their long term goals. They are in a very nice trajectory now performance wise. If all goes well, the risks they have taken at the beginning should pay off just about now. Fingers crossed, knock on wood. :)

idk but part of me kinda wants them to lose just because i know if they did, the london arena will go crazy and boo the winners. which imo wil be great heading into the olympics because it will make v/m look like the underdogs and the winners the enemy (well depending if scott keeps his mouth shut and plays his cards right) this was mentioned before in the other thread that skate canada and the canadian media has done a great job making v/m look like the underdogs and making the critics and haters of carmen look like snooty, close-minded people.

I know you - you will give standing ovations to D-W :D Not like in Bourne-Kraatz times - just ignore main rivals :))))))))))))))))))))))))))
