Are they talking about Bikini or full Brazilian bikini? Either way, it's creepy to think that 8yr old is getting her crotch taken care of.

I would be okay with this if it were a young teen (around 13) who is hairy or has dark hair, and is embarrassed about it when wearing bathing suits. A bikini wax, not a full out brazilian.

But an 8 or 10 year old?! :scream:

The article said that it's done as a means of saving on future waxing as it claims that waxing pre-puberty pubes prevents them from growing permanently. I do wonder if this is true though.

You should know that some girls (an increasing number of them) hits puberty at 9.

Yeah, if it's something that is needed or causing embarrassment, that's fine. But that doesn't seem like it's the case for the girls mentioned in the article.

I *can* sort of see the waxing is someone wants to wear a kleenex size bikini, but I do think that pre-teen is a bit over the top.

Yeah I wonder if there's any truth to that claim. That kind of logic is used as a marketing tool to attract adults as well, but it's completely hoax.

I do get brazilian waxes, and the more I get it done the finer the hair grows back, but I'm not sure that it would ever completely stop growing if I started waxing when it first started growing. That does seem like something they are advertising just to get more customers in the door.

Well, there is some hair that is fine and light. The article claims that if you wax these, the real pubic hair that is darker and coarser will not grow. I don't know if I believe that.

I had hair down there at 10, not fine and light either. But it still was not enough to wax!! And nothing that would peek out of a bathing suit, at least not one appropriate for a ten year old! Got my period at 12. My mom (who is almost 70) got her period at 10. So early puberty is genetic (in my case) nd not entirely a new thing.

Me too. I think the hair would grow in finer and not as coarse, but there would still be hair.

I was  at the one person they interviewed for the article saying that “girls are learning the worst possible lessons about body image and body hair. Keep your bodies like little girls’ because that’s what men like.”

Ah... no... that's not why everybody does that. Where does she think that "fish smell" that gets joked about comes from - it's from a combo of sweat, discharge and body hair. I work out outside in the summer (cycling), plus I contra dance 3 weekends out of the month, so that's why I get rid of mine; it's got nothing to do with "what men like" because I get rid of it whether or not I'm involved with anyone like that.

Right, but you're 35. You're a woman of a certain age. You remember life before Internet porn and you probably even remember life before cable tv. Guys who are 35 remember what it felt like when they were in high school and were lucky enough to get their hands in certain places. These young guys today? They've grown up on a steady diet of Internet porn and a lot of them think that's what all girls should look like. I would bet twenty bucks that if you asked a random 20 year-old guy "pubic hair on a girl or no pubic hair?" he'd be scheeved by the idea of hair. Oh sure, there will be some twisted geniuses out there who would say they want the hair but the average 20 year-old guy? The girl has to be hairless or he's not touching it, period.

It also has to do with the guys' level of intelligence and maturity. Smart, mature guys know that the porn they see on the internet (and elsewhere) is fantasy, so they don't expect women in real life to look the way they do in porn. Such guys are ecstatic to have a woman they love be naked around them no matter the state of their body hair.

    20-y-o guys aren't very intelligent nor mature. That's why I don't date them. ;)

True. But lots of real life women fall victim to porn standards, so the line between the reality and internet becomes fuzzy. The first time I ever saw a woman with full grown *ahem* bush was in college when I ran into a nudist hippie.

Augh... don't remind me of my age... I'll be in the 2nd half of my 30's in 2 months. I'm already hearing jokes from the older women at work that it's downhill after 40 (I'm the only person in the office younger than 40).

I feel sorry for what the younger generation of girls/women have to deal with as far as guys and their collective mentality. I'm not even impressed with the guys in my own generation. I used to have a male buddy who is now 69 years old; needless to say, long time ago he became my "Gold Standard" for how I want to be treated by any guy in my life. He always insisted on opening doors for me, and I'll never forget the lecture he gave me on that the first time we ever hung out outside of work.

Well most women don't go all the way, with the lip injections, plucked eyebrows, and fake boobs.

My point is that you should do what's comfortable for you for whatever reason you want, not do things because that's how you land a man. The right man won't care anyway.

People keep on saying this, but I have no idea what they're talking about. Maybe you're referring to the texting generation that's still in HS right now. Or maybe that's because I don't stand being around douchebags.

And the definition of a chivalrous man doesn't always mean opening doors for me. I can open my own doors and pull out my own chair, thank you. If my hands are full and I need help, that's the time to open a door.

I do it because it takes less effort to just get rid of it all than to keep it trim and even. Basically I got lazy lol! I shave though.. it hurts just thinking about waxing down there.

    Touché.

Maybe I'm being cynical, but number of right men will only dwindle with so many standards imposed by internet, cable tv, etc.

I'm just a few months past 40 and I'm here to tell you that it isn't ALL downhill after 40. Only some of it is. ;)

And guys at 40 are just as relatively immature as guys at 20. It seems they NEVER catch up to us.

He's from Jersey, he can only go so far in not being :EVILLE:. They grow us that way, what can we do?

You know, people keep saying this, but I'm 22, and and in my experience that most guys when present with the, uh, option, don't really care when it's a case of girl with hair versus nothing at all. The preference for no hair is definitely, 100% true, though.

Maybe I'm hanging out with the wrong (right?) kind of guys.

I don't know if this is a Europe vs. North America thing, but I have never met a man who suggested he would prefer it if I removed my hair. And in most of the European porn I've seen  , neither men nor women are shaved or waxed.

Personally, adults with hairless genitals turn me off, perhaps because they remind me of children. They don't seem sexy at all to me. Hair must have a sexual attraction for a lot of people, otherwise we would have evolved without it.
