Is anyone else planning on watching this trainwreck? (starts tonight at 9ET with a repeat at 11pm (along with 34826 reruns during the next week))

I watched most of the first season of this show, and the OTT :drama: and histrionics were beyond  . If the new season holds up or surpasses last season's hot mess, it will easily be one of my temporary guilty pleasures

ETA: PL would go bananas over the infinite number of shoes these beyotches have in their closet/suites

Haha I thought I was the only one who caught this the last time it came on. :slinkaway

The first season was about some stuck-up spoiled princesses who were nominated by their families (AKA cut-off) and forced to live in a "normal" house together and learn how to do things for themselves.

I might have to watch this too. I can imagine the hilarious things that upset the pretty princesses.

They take a bunch of obnoxious, seriously spoiled brats (we're talking Paris Hilton levels of greed and ostentatious spending) who think they're on a reality show to find the next "It Girl," only to find out that their parents are cutting them off financially. They have to live in a "middle-class" home with shared bedrooms, condense their massive wardrobes into one regular suitcase, share chores, do grocery shopping, and *gasp!* actually work to have money to buy food and other necessities.

Last season was beyond hilarious, so I'm hoping this one can top it. I will say that this group of brats is better looking than the delusional (and rode-hard-and-put-up-wet) twits last year.

What blows my mind is the incredulous sense of entitlement these bitches have - they really do think they're the most beautiful and stunning creatures to grace the earth and that their shit don't stink. Even more mind-boggling is that their parents allowed this to happen.

One thing's for sure - the catfights that ensue make the idiots from Rock of Love seem like nothing

I never saw the first season, but I'm tivo'ing it now. I'm currently watching Enough Already in which Oprah's organizational expert helps people deal with their clutter. It's like the old show Clean House, except it's just Peter Walsh and not really the whole team that redecorated the rooms.

Wheeeeee!! Let the insanity begin!!

I want to know who the mystery "cut off" chick is. If it's someone from last season, my bet is on either Gia or Erica (who some may remember from The Bachelor - the crazy bitch with the tiara fetish who had a major meltdown when she got booted on a double-elimination date).

15 minutes in and my favorite quote is this:

"No! No, no no no, no! I wanna talk to my mama!"

    ETA: New line!

I can't believe there is a second season of this show.

Then again, I can't believe I watched most of the first season. I always hated myself in the morning, but it was so hard to just not look.

You mean like that episode of "The Facts of Life" when Blair goes home and is hanging out with her rich snobby best friend and the friend is all bent out of shape because the maid wasn't around the penthouse for some reason I forget why and Blair said no problem, we'll make lunch ourselves I know how to do that now because I'm hanging with Tooty and Jo and Natalie and Mrs. Garrett and we don't have maids at school, we'll make tuna fish so let's see can of tuna, mayonnaise, now name crunchy and the rich snotty friend said "Diamonds!" You mean like that?

    Whee! First season links! :cheer2:

I just saw the previews for the upcoming episodes. I'm hooked.

Really dear? Your broom is defective and it's making your poor little arm hurt?

More like they have to make themselves a tuna sandwich for lunch, and they cry because tuna is food for poor people, then a couple of them stare at the can for 40 minutes and can't figure out how to open it, then one of them kind of taps it with a can opener, then they decide making tuna sandwiches is too hard so they just eat the bread plain and cry about it.

Well, there ya go. I also watched last season :shuffle:, and all you need to do is look at their parents to understand why these women turned out so "entitled," to put it mildly.

I remember the episode when they brought the parents on, and to say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree would be a drastic understatement in this case. Erika's mom was particularly :scream:

    Talk about delusional.

This show sounds beyond awesome. I hope a cable channel in the desolate north (i.e. Canada) picks it up.

That scene had me howling with  .

I was half-watching during the first run - did that one girl with the out-of-control hair walk off the set and quit?

 Definitely!! Didn't she say that she was in law school, too?

Erica's mom's psychobabble speech to her daughter at the "graduation" ceremony was such a garbled mess I don't think google could have translated it.

Also, it was hard to tell who'd had more plastic surgery - Erica or her mother. IIRC, in the "epilogue/follow-up" graphics, it said that Erica had one or two more procedures done :yikes: . She's one trip under the knife from outdoing Heidi Montag :scream: .

Yes. She was the one with the rich boyfriend and was threatening to cut off sex. I wonder if she has one of his friends lined up as a back-up because I can't see this relationship working.

Thanks a lot, another mindless show that I am now addicted to. I watched the first 2 episodes of season 1 tonight. I don't think I could like anyone less than I like Gia.

 And then screech at each other over which filthy, ugly cow who looks 40 without makeup and ugly hair extensions has to brush up the crumbs, which ends with them throwing bread at each other and getting into a hair-pulling match.

And don't forget the boxed wine--PML!

She was! She had to drop out to do the show. But she was okay with that because it was so tough when all the other students insisted on studying instead of working on their appearance. She wanted to focus on herself, but not in a narcissistic way.

The best part of that whole episode is the look on the interviewer's (plastic) face when the girls answer his questions.

Last I heard, Erica was back in law school and should graduate this year. :scream: There's an essay somewhere on the net about how reality TV is conspiring to make lawyers look bad by casting people like her.

Bwahaha, I'd forgotten that. And there was that session where Erica's mom met with the life coach and couldn't grasp the concept of "superficial."

I did feel sorry for Erica, though; her dad really created her as she is.

Oh, dear, if you've seen only two episodes, you have not yet begun to dislike Gia, who does NOT improve upon further acquaintance. Toward the end of the season, you'll learn something that will explain some of what's going on with her, but it doesn't make her much more likable.

I started watching season one. I think Chrissy annoys me more than Gia. Someone should smack that compact and lip gloss out of her hands.

Wait. I just saw where they started work. Erica smack talking about getting the best job and being the manager is already going to piss me off. I am anticipating massive fights with the others.

Apparently one of the girls from the current season was arrested last night in L.A. for DUI. I don't mind so much when these "princesses" fail at life. Her name is Jennifer Jowett.

Oh, and can someone tell me what the audience finds out about Gia later on in the show? I doubt I will finish season 1 because the new one has started.

Since mpal is watching season one:

Gia had a terrible case of postpartum depression after her daughter was born; she wasn't allowed to be alone with her daughter for a long time because people were afraid of what she might do. She had just gotten to the point where she was considered safe around her child and they were working on building a relationship, so she was very angry at her husband and the producers of the show for tricking her into being locked away from her child right then. This is barely touched on during the show and, as I said, it doesn't make Gia any more likable.

The show makes the girls look even more useless than they really are. Gia owns and runs a successful restaurant (I read somewhere that she is also--get this--a former cop, of all things); Erica really was a law student; Pam was doing an internship in banking that she wasn't allowed to talk about on camera (which is why everyone started thinking she was an escort, LOL), Jackie had a recording deal, etc. This is not to say that they aren't all spoiled brat princesses, but the show very carefully screened out things that might offset that image a bit.

And yes, mpal, I thought Chrissy was THE most annoying person on the show. And so does Laura. Wait for the episode where they get the spa reward :EVILLE:.

Thanks for the spoiler tag. That's the next episode for me. I'm on the camping one right now. The spa rewards scene was great. I think Chrissy came out several times because I thought she had different clothes on. I missed a little though because I was concentrating on my other task.

We had another snow day so I setup the laptop where I could see and went to work painting. I can't paint worth anything and I hate it so I do have to thank you Cyn for starting this thread. It made the painting bearable.

I watched part of the first episode today (stayed home because of snow). Never saw a previous season. I live in the midwest and I am not rich and I thought the house was dirty and tacky too! Doesn't putting them somewhere like that make them look even more pathetic and useless? What do these girls parents/boyfriends/whatever do for a living where they make so much money? These are not teenage girls. Why did it take their people so long to decide that they weren't going to support them so lavishly anymore? Or is that just part of the requirement for this "reality" show? And making them wear the same few things over and over for 8 weeks? I don't wear designer clothes and shoes, but I'd have a hard time with that one. I know - it's t.v. I guess I will have to catch more episodes.

I also have a problem with the fact that most of these women have been completely spoiled since birth and it doesn't APPEAR that the parents have ever tried to cut them off. I don't know if I agree that it is fair to suddenly kick them out and tell them they are truly cut off. How do you expect your princess to make a living when she probably has no more than a high school education and absolutely no skills for the real world? She would struggle to keep a minimum wage job and quite frankly, the parents should have thought about this before. Now, that doesn't mean to continue to spoil them rotten but the parents are getting off completely free as if they did nothing wrong here. Of course, I never finished season 1 so maybe this is addressed later. As for those that have boyfriends, ummm, it says a LOT more about the boyfriend IMO. He can walk away at ANY moment. For those with husbands, the wife probably doesn't care because she knows she can divorce him and take at least half of his money if they didn't sign a prenup.

OMG I must watch this show! Thanks for the link to last year's eps - I will get on those on my day off next week :watch:
